The Quarry is the green jewel with the "loop" of the severn bordering directly onto Shrewsbury town. St Chads sit at the top of the Quarry hill in sentinel position. The memorial gardens in the centre are a nice quiet place to sit and listen to the water fountains and the walk along the river from Welsh- to English- Bridge is about 3km (2 miles). Apart from a brief area from near the St Julian Friars toe-bridge past the tennis club that is not very well lit in darkness, it is very enjoyable at every time of the day. There are amenities eg a children play area near the Boathouse bridge and also the Quarry Swimming/Leisure facility in the same area. The Quarry is also used for events. The "park" is reasonably well maintained and generally presented with a good level of overall care. Every visitor to Shrewsbury should take a walk along the Severn around the town and enjoy the natural beauty that is strongly supported locally.
