“Cosy cottage”
Reviewed 20 February 2017 for a stay in February 2017

This is a cosy cottage is in the heart of Ludlow. It has been beautifully renovated to make a warm, welcoming retreat with easy access to the castle, market and shops. The owner, has thought of everything her guests might need, including plenty of tourist information. The kitchen is very well-equipped ,perfect for cooking the great local produce available in Ludlow. Thank you for a lovely stay Rosemary. :-) x

“Fabulous bijou cottage for rural retreat”

This is a beautiful, small cottage in a quiet lane in central Old Town Ludlow. Just 10 minutes walk from the station and two minutes walk from the High Street, Castle and market square.

The cottage is small but well equipped. The kitchen is small, but food preparation for two does not need much space. Food basics (oil, salt, pepper, dried herbs), washing powder, washing up liquid and cloths are all provided.

It was too cold to sit out in the charming courtyard garden, but we could look at it from the kitchen window.

The bedroom has a supersize bed, which can separate into twin beds. The bed is very comfortable and the lane quiet, so no noisy revellers passing by.

The owner, Rosemary, has thought of everything, including a first aid kit, games, DVDs, free wifi, digital TV, lots of books about Ludlow and Shropshire and extra blankets for chilly winter nights.

A particular special touch is the goody bag of homemade cakes, jam, bread, milk and other treats. It is clear that this owner wants her guests to really enjoy their stay. The visitors' book says it all. Everyone has a fantastic time here.

The cottage is a short walk away from the hills and the river, where we saw the salmon leaping over the weir. The walk around the outside of the castle is easy and gives a lovely view of it.

We bought delicious lamb from the local butchers. There is a wide variety of fruit and vegetables at the greengrocer near the Buttercross which is two minutes away. For those who don't want to cook, most of the restaurants and pubs are within a five minute walk from the cottage. There are also a number of supermarkets (Tesco, Aldi, Budgens, Spar) so no problem in stocking up on supplies.

We spent a long weekend walking our socks off and feel that we have had a taste of what Ludlow has to offer. A stay in the summer for warmer and longer walks would be even better then a cold weekend in November. If we do return, we will definitely choose Rosemary's lovely cottage.

We came by train. There are buses and trains to other towns and villages, so no need to bring your car. There is street parking very close to the cottage, but not outside which has double yellow lines. Upper Linney is so narrow that only one vehicle can pass at a time.

“Fabulous Place”
Reviewed 3 June 2016 for a stay in June 2016

We stayed here for 3 nights and were very impressed, firstly the location is great, minutes walk to get anywhere in the town. Cottage is clean and well equipped, comfy extra large bed and wonderful little garden, weather was kind to us so we spent lots of time out there and it's a real sun trap! Great welcome package from Rosemary, the eggs were delicious. We would definitely return and recommend to others.

“Lovely cottage in Ludlow town with delightful courtyard garden perfect for two.”
Reviewed 2 June 2016 for a stay in May 2016

Well equipped, clean and very comfortable cottage in a quiet street just minutes walk from the centre of Ludlow. The small courtyard garden is private and thoughtfully designed with pretty plants and garden furniture. The weather was glorious so we were able to enjoy breakfast outside each morning of our two night stay. The super king sized bed was extremely comfortable with nice quality bedding. Rosemary kindly left us a small hamper of her own hen's eggs, damson jam, cake, milk, bread and flowers in a vase. All delicious and much appreciated thank you. The roads in Ludlow are generally narrow and parking is restricted everywhere in town. However, street parking near the house is cheap at £1.10 per day and we had no problem finding a spot every day. There are an abundance of lovely independent shops in town and also supermarkets for more general groceries. We would highly recommend 19 Upper Linney to any couples or singles wishing to visit this very interesting town in the beautiful Shropshire countryside.
