Been coming here on my visits to Reading for over 25 years. The only changes have been the staff. It's the same great little Real Ale emporium as it ever was, with the addition over the past few years, of a wide selection of local Real Cider, and Continental Craft in bottles and on tap. Can be very busy or very quiet, all depending on what sports are in season and/or what other big events are happening in town, ie; the annual Reading Beer Festival or Music festival can swell the town, but there is always a warm welcome and plenty of local characters to converse with. Lovely red headed bar lady too. A 'must visit' for people of a certain age!

Very good selection of beers and ales in this CAMRA listed pub. We just stopped for one pint and i could've stayed for many more but had to get home. Will definitely come back.

Proper old pub good selection ales and cider. CAMRA listed and some really good music playing, unfortunately I was unable to sit outside due to clamp downs by police in Reading centre

Before suffering the misery which is watching Sunderland, we had a stroll around some of Reading’s historic commercial properties and visited this little gem.

It is a fantastic pub. Numerous real ales on, quirky layout and full of people. As for the music, TWO UFO songs! For a beer drinking, middle aged rocker this place is heaven.

This was the sort of pub you tried to avoid in the inner cities in the 1970's. Filthy toilets, unfriendly staff, old men hogging the bar making it hard to get served and smoking e-cigarettes, yet it sells over-priced beer which is very mediocre. No TV, food, newspapers or atmosphere. Best avoided.
