I love this place. Tucked away from the town centre in St Mary's Butts, it's a little treasure. It shares premises with a flower shop, so the smell is always lovely. You can hide away in the back near the fire, or sit at the window watching the crowd go by. The owner and staff are really friendly and helpful and make you feel right at home. You can choose from a selection of sandwiches, try the home cooked specials, or indulge in high tea. What's not to like?

This place serves good-quality cakes -- most of which are homemade and sandwiches at reasoanble prices. The atmosphre is that of a postmodernist version of a tradtional tea room. Unlike previous reviews I found the portion sizes for sandwiches and cake to be in line with similar establishements. However, the service neds improving, a relatively simnple order took a long time to come and I was asked at least thrice to repeat it.

Me and a friend visited on a Saturday afternoon. There were two tables free at the front (with reserved signs) and 1 small one tucked in the back. My friend asked if we could sit at the front as no-one was there yet and was told 'not if there's a reserved sign there...no'. 1 and a half hours later there was still no-one on the reserved tables.
I had afternoon tea, she forgot to bring milk and scones, the scones were dry and the jam and cream tasted of very poor quality. Also, they gave us a pot of tea for one for two of us? The only saving grace was my friends slice of cake. They gave a huge portion (which she requested) and it was enjoyable. Safe to say we won't be returning or suggesting it to friends.

A group of 4 attended an afternoon tea, the was a selection of 4 types of sandwich, but one piece of bread was used to make the 4 sandwiches, and some were stale! The cakes were good the atmosphere relaxed and the staff really friendly, but having attended other similar afternoon teas in the area the portion size was small and not value for money.

Visit Saturday 2nd August, 2.30pm

We visited Kearley's Coffee Shop for a Groupon Afternoon Tea - The place had good reviews and we do like a nice afternoon tea.

The shop is part tea room, part florists - Which leaves a lovely fragrance in the air, and the place is smartly decorated and very fresh. The staff were very friendly and there was a good choice of tea (Clipper), with the alternative of 1 soft drink or coffee.

The food was nice, but very, very small portions. We actually had to go and grab something to eat after. Sandwiches included the classic smoked salmon, but were really small

2 mini scones each followed, with a bit of brownie, ginger cake and banana cake. All rather small again. I'm not looking for a gargantuan portion, and the Groupon was very competitively priced, but it just felt very small portions nonetheless

We were asked (in a very friendly manner) on the way out if everything was alright - Which to be honest is a little too late...
