Came for dinner with my mum, I had the duck salad and lamb chop, and mum has the beetroot salad and the salmon- all of the dishes were absolutely delicious! We were served by Monica, who was incredibly helpful and friendly; I personally couldn’t have asked for better service, and I would come back without hesitation! For pudding we both had the Eton mess sundae (a special) which was really lovely! A truly wonderful night.

We had a very nice evening meal last Saturday night. Four of us had a two course meal and two bottles of wine for £160, which we thought was reasonable. Staff very helpful and friendly, service was good and quality of the meal was great. Would eat here again.

Came to the country side and had a lovely lunch in a beautiful backyard of this pub.
Very friendly service, nice menu, delicious food. We also shared a lovely dessert, Etons mess sundae, very nice!

This is a difficult one to review because the place is unquestionably very pretty, but perhaps because of its popularity and that of the town, I believe that the staff get a bit overworked and sloppy. The food was quite tasty but we did have to wait an age to get our drinks brought over and not just once. I got up at one point and saw them on a tray on the bar. One of our party did send a dish back although it was not charged - we think it was slightly under-cooked but perhaps the chef thought that was the style. Anyway re-done the result was very acceptable. Overall a lovely charming place, not especially memorable but I think that we got a team that was at the end of their shift - shame.

We visited the Woodstock Arms on a recent short break in Woodstock. The hotel (that didn't do evening meals) had highly recommended this place, and we weren't disappointed but would not return.

The Woodstock Arms was bustling with local folk when we booked the day before and on our arrival on a Sunday evening. So, that is a good sign.

The menu is extensive and the service good and attentive in a refreshingly continental manner. This is another gastropub, not a restaurant, and its prices are appropriate for that type of cuisine, but I would suggest it is a bit pricey for what is in effect eating in a pub.
We weren't offered a Specials menu, if one existed? So we went by the main menu presented to us and that had a wide choice of dishes.

The cheeseboard my partner had afterwards though was quite laughable - at top price for a tiny slither of cheddar (his request to only have cheddar) and a few water biscuits and little to no garnish, nevermind celery etc - now that wasn't good. So think the pub needs to get its act together as to presenting a cheese board.

Have to admit that though the main food was delicious and well presented, the portions were just adequate, and we found the pricing to be somewhat pretentious for a pub, albeit a gastropub.

But, we are retired folk now, so tend to either visit silver service restaurants or Table Table type pubs, so we may be missing something somewhere to be fair to the Woodstock Arms.

As local folk obviously liked and used the premises, think maybe we were just unlucky on the day perhaps. But the service and ambience there is lovely. As you gather, am trying to be fair here! :)
