“Wonderful house in quiet village”
Reviewed 18 October 2016 for a stay in September 2016

We stayed in the Old School House for 1 week in September as part of a 6 week trip in Europe. This was our first trip to England. The little village, Milton Under Wychwood, is right in the middle of the Cotswolds. The house is located on a quiet street next door to an old church and is absolutely fantastic . In 5 minutes, you can walk to a pub, (the Hare), and also a market (the Coop). On Thursday nights a food truck visits where you can get fantastic Fish and Chips takeaway. Everyone we met in the village was very nice and friendly.
The house itself is spectacular. A perfect example of an old stone house in the English countryside. It is extremely well equipped with everything needed for making meals. The stove in the kitchen is a wonder. Our hostess, Tracy, left us an incredible welcome package on our arrival. We were given local cheeses, bread, wine, butter, milk, crackers and even fudge and cake. Thank you Tracy! We also appreciated the washer and dryer on the property.
On a few days, the weather was so wonderful that we were able to BBQ on the large patio. When it rained, we enjoyed the cozy fireplace in the living room.
You absolutely need a car in this area. About a 10 minute drive away is the town of Burford. It has lots of shops and pubs- a fun place to walk around. Other villages we visited by car were Burton on the Water (very nice), and Stow on the Wold. We made the Old School House our base for our England vacation and drove to Stonehenge and Oxford.
We drove to Oxford and used the Park and Ride to take an Oxford Bus into London, and spent a long day visiting several attractions in London. It was so relaxing to come back to The Old School House. We had a fantastic time and cannot wait to return!

“Relaxing country retreat”
Reviewed 22 August 2016 for a stay in August 2016

This cottage is beautiful and located in a lovely quiet village which has a local pub only 5 minutes walk (serves gorgeous food). Perfectly situated to visit all cotswolds gems- blenheim palace, bourton on the water. The owner tracy is fantastic and the welcome hamper of fudge, cake, cheese and wine most appreciated! Already booked to return next year, can't wait.

Very easy and smooth booking process, Tracy was always prompt to respond. Fantastic cottage, beautifully decorated and well kept. Very clean and well equipped. Lovely outdoor space in a picturesque village. Highly recommend The Hare pub in the village for dinner.

“What a wonderful cottage!”
Reviewed 12 April 2016 for a stay in April 2016

The Old School House is the perfect place to stay when you plan to visit the Cotswolds. The cottage is simply fantastic. It is very well equipped, everything you need is there, it is beautifully decorated and the view on the church and churchyard is priceless.
We really appreciated the welcome hamper, with everything in it to get us through the first day of our stay. We didn’t need to rush to the grocery store.
In between Oxford and Cheltenham it is the perfect location to explore the lovely Cotswolds villages like Bibury, Burford, Bourton on the Water, Stow on the Wold, Lower Slaughter and many more, to visit castles, manors and gardens close by and to do beautiful walks.
Within a range of a few miles there are several nice places to go dining, but the kitchen is very well suited to do your own cooking.
In short, the Old School House is a gem.
