We love Wollaton hall it's a great day out the hall is free to go round and great for the kids .. and a walk round the lake to feed the ducks . The cafe is lovely to sit outside on a sunny day with a coffee watching the world go by or grab a ice cream from the ice cream van . Make sure you take change for the car park as there isn't anywhere to get change from .

I was doing some work at nearby University of Nottingham and popped up to Wollaton on an extended lunch break. What a good decision! The house itself is stunning and the museum has some really interesting corners. The park is extensive and very nice for a stroll, especially to see the deer (who are so incredibly tame!). Well worth a brief visit if passing, but also would equally be a great family day out.

Being from Nottingham and living not far, I've been here many times. A lot of overseas visitors often mistake this place for Nottingham Castle and its not hard to see why. Its a beautiful old building high on a hill, partly surrounded by a dry moat, with manicured grounds, gardens, good views, herds of deer free to roam, woodlands, some huge ancient trees, lake, museum, shops, kids parks. Apart from the carparks, its free to enter the grounds and was free last time I went into the hall, which also has an excellent natural history museum. It was also free to park not so long ago. This place is fantastic for sledging in winter, looking at the lush new growth in Spring, lazing around in summer or seeing the changing Autumn colours. With Nottingham's great transport links, Wollaton Hall is accessible to anyone of all ages on foot, car, cycle and with good paths, even wheelchairs and scooters. The deer rut is a sight to see in Autumn and you don't have to travel to the wilds of Scotland to see it either. You can see the best rut you'll ever see right here in Notts. Please remember not to approach the deer as although they are used to humans, they are still wild and dangerous animal's. Dogs must also be controlled in the grounds here. If coming to Nottingham, try to visit this place, you won't be disappointed

I visited Woolaton Hall and Park with my family (hubby, DD 9, DS 4 and DD 3) we paid £5 for all day parking (from opening until dusk which was about 10 o clock that evening)

We as a family have visited several times and it is one of our favourite places to go as a family. The grounds are simply stunning, rollings hills, beautiful lakes, flower gardens and walled off gardens, fields to walk in and shaded wooded areas to rest in. My children (even the 4 year old boy) was super impressed with the walled flower garden which looked and smelt beautiful.
The children love looking at the deer's and this time they had a real treat as there were several "bambis" about as the deer's had not long gave birth.

There are trees and gardens to explore and a large park, the children simply love exploring and burning off steam! Its lovely for adults too as the place is lovely and tranquil. The cafe that we visited had lovely, accommodating staff who were more than happy to help going out of there way to fetch my daughter a drink of water as she cannot have fruit shoots ect.

The hall itself is impressive also and extremely well kept and beautiful. The whole family love to go inside (free of charge) and look at the exhibitions like the animals and butterflies and all the old paintings. My eldest likes to wander around and pick out which rooms she would live in if she were a princess! There is a reasonable gift shop catering for all price ranges and friendly staff.

There are several events throughout the year including the dinosaurs of china which we also visited - this was truly spectacular and all three of the children were awestruck by the exhibition. Several outdoor cinemas and plays are performed here also which we plan to attend.

all in all a real jewel in Nottingham's crown and an absolute must see if visiting.

This is amazing place to visit.Particularly on the good day for out door activities.

I know that Holly wood movie 'Batman' was filmed here for most of their indoor as well as outdoor shots.

Deers and lakes and long gardens along with the majestic building that sits in the middle.
Cycling opportunities exist and one can have a picnic for a half a day.

University lake is not far away from here and provides excellent boating experience.
