Description: The cuisine of India is as rich and diverse as her people and has its influence from all over the Ancient World. The first Moghul Emperor, Babur, a direct descendant of the Mongol conqueror Genghis Khan and the Turkish leader “Timur the Muslim” arrived from Afghanistan in 1526 and founded the dynasty on the ruins of the old Sultanate of Delhi.Under the rule of these cool Caliphs came a period where beauty and elegance became “in vogue” and flourished. The Sultans of Style nursed a passion for panache that was reflected in all aspects of life. Fair to say if you were looking for “Rogan rush” in the 16th Century, then Delhi was the place to be!To make these spices sparkle, a radically new form of cooking was introduced by the chefs of Imperial food courts. Commanded by their masters to bedazzle and enthral with their culinary tactics, the chefs created Dum Pukht; the ultra chic “Food of the Kings”. Known to the pundits as the near mythical Grand Cuisine of India. To guarantee a chilli kick, the food was encased and sealed into great earthen pots and covered with charcoal and scorched earth. Here it would simmer and ferment over the day in its own juices allowing the food to ripen and mature. Once the great earthen pots were opened at the court banquets, it is said that the Memsahibs would faint and the Sahibs would swoon at the intensity of the fragrances that were released. Our chefs have been brought in from Delhi to ensure that the dishes that we serve are of the highest quality and prepared to authentic Indian recipes. Our chefs will be using fresh herbs, spices and ingredients that are free from artificial colouring and flavouring. The generosity of our people is legendary. In Sanskrit literature we say ‘Atithi Devo Bhava’ (the guest is truly your god) meaning that we are honoured to share our mealtimes with guests. Even our poorest look forward to receiving guests and sharing their meal. With the restaurant we wanted to create a place that is relaxing and comfortable, but also wanted to inject some of the hustle and bustle of everyday life of Delhi. With the open plan ‘theatre’ kitchen, in hope that we have brought a little bit of Delhi to Nottingham.

Great food, shame about the sevice. The host was rather awkward, didnt really know what he was doing. He pressured us into going over to the table when we wanted to wait for the rest of our group to arrive. When we went to the table it wasnt ready and so he told us to just stand awkwardly in the middle of the restaurant but because we were a fairly big group i said that it would be uncomfortable for us to surround this poor couple trying to enjoy their meal.

When the waitor came to take our order he couldnt hear us because the restaurant was quite loud, but rather than moving round the table closer to the person giving their order he just forced us to scream over everyone else in the restaurant which wasnt appropriate.

Located on Maid Marion Way, in the heart of Nottingham City centre. There are quite a few car parks at walking distance. We had booked the table in advance - we were greeted by a gracious staff member who took us to our seats with no delay. The food was excellent - authentic Indian taste and flavour. Great ambiance; friendly staff and excellent service... Overall it was a great dining experience - excellent value for money...

We arrived early but were quickly seated, we had a groupon voucher and there was a slight problem regarding this but it was dealt with quickly and favourably. The head of staff was so helpful , especially as one of our party had allergy issues.

We would not hesitate to return and thanks once again to the young lady who assisted us with our choices! The food was excellent! 10/10

.mWe were greeted very quickly on arrival. The lady who served us was excellent, very polite and conscientious. We arrived ahead of our time but seated promptly . The lady was very patient and took our drinks order and waited until they arrived. We had a Groupon voucher for four of us, but this made no difference to how we were treated or served. I can honestly say I have had a lot of curries and this was actually one of the best. I would highly recommend the chicken Rogan Josh. The chicken tikka starter was so good and large! Lovely tender chicken and the sauce was beautiful. Thank you for great service and a great night. Well worth the money. Fantastic team and place
