Found this great attraction when on business. Small but beautifully laid out and showing with a timeline that stretches for ages. The price is great, the layout is fantastic and the staff amazing. Well worth a visit

A great wee museum in the heart of the city. Good for two hours and terrific value. The timeline takes in our religious, civil, continental, colonial and modern wars. The main lessons are badly equipped, poorly led and trained army goes off, gets beaten up a bit. Learns lesson. Comes back wins (mostly). Lessons forgotten for next war. Also uniforms much better in the past.

Came across York army museum when walking to our hotel.

Prices was £5 each for two adults, the tickets can be used again in the same year.

You access the museum via going downstairs, there is a lift for people who struggle, wheelchairs and buggy's.

The main floor of the museum is well lit and enough space for people to move about.
The history of the Yorkshire regiment and The royal dragoons is told by follow the information on the walls it takes you through the years to modern day.

Plenty of medals and personal items on show that have been donated to the museum.

A history of weapons that were used by the regiment going back hundreds of years to now.

It really is worth going to and a part of history that should be remember and not forgotten.

Yes it is very small but is packed with York military history. Highly recommend if history is your thing.

Lots of interesting items on display in theis little museum. I did not know Captain Oates was a memeber of the York regiemnt. A few of his personal items are on display.
