Not our first visit, we have been several times before but this was our first with my youngest who is now 5. Very busy Easter Saturday but still plenty of room to view the engines. Its a great free day out and passes a couple of hours. Has trains and carriages from the earliest Stevenson's rocket through to more modern ones like the Japanese bullet train. Its quite compact and not difficult to get round. Didn't go outside because it was chucking it down, but i think they have finally added a steam train ride outside which is something this place was desperately lacking.
Was a little bit shocked at the price of the land train which at £10 for 4 just to the Minster seems a bit steep so we trudged into York in the rain instead,

Good way to spend a couple of hours on a rainy day. Nice to look inside some of the carriages like the hospital carriage.

This is an amazing place so much to see and so informative. Have numerous times for movable exhibits and if you take kids lots for them to do will definitely be going back for a second visit

A place you must visit if you're in York, great on a wet day as it's all indoors. Free entry although we did make a donation of £5 each.
