Reviewed 30 May 2017

We stayed for two nights recently and we're very disappointed with our overall stay. The cleanliness of the room was shocking, particularly the bathroom, black mould and mildew around the shower screen and a dirty tap that looked like it hadn't been cleaned in months. Staff not friendly or heldful verging on abrupt. Room was far too hot and consequently we had to sleep with a window open, which resulted in numerous outside wake up calls by guests returning through the night. Have stayed in premier inn many times, will not return here or recommend. Very disappointing stay. Reception floor filthy on arrival, still filthy and uncleared two days later when we left.

WhitbreadHotels, Premier Inn Team at Premier Inn York North Hotel, responded to this reviewResponded 12 June 2017

Hi Karen,

Thanks for your review.

I'm sorry to hear that you were unhappy with your recent visit to the York North hotel. It's disappointing to know that both your room and the reception area were unclean, hot and that you felt staff were dismissive. This is certainly not what we would expect for our guests to encounter and I do apologise for the inconvenience caused.

At Premier Inn we hope all guests can enjoy a great night's sleep in a clean and comfortable environment. Housekeeping should be performing thorough cleaning and checking rooms prior to guests arrival. I'm sorry that this wasn't the case on this occasion. Please be assured that your comments have been passed onto the Hotel Management Team to be addressed with Housekeeping staff for improvement.

Unfortunately this hotel does not have air conditioning facilities installed in the rooms, however staff will provide thinner sheets, fans and open windows where possible to alleviate the problem. In future, please visit the Premier Inn website and read the 'Important Info' section which details all aspects that may affect your stay for you to make an informed decision prior to booking.

We always encourage staff to be friendly, welcoming and helpful towards guests, so it's a shame that you felt otherwise. This will also be raised with Team Members to ensure that we continue to provide a high standard of service.

Your feedback is much appreciated as it enables us to make the necessary improvement(s) for a better guest service.

Kind Regards,

Sharelle

Just spent two evening's at this hotel and felt it was not the usual standard of a Premier Inn. It seemed a little grotty especially our room 225. There was a pungent smell of stale urine in the toilet area and we felt that the the whole bathroom needed a good scrub. Room was fine but in need of redecorating, bed comfy and hotel quiet. Could do with air conditioning though. Breakfast was top class but had to wait a while for the cooked breakfast items. A bit far from the city center but easily accessed by the number 2 bus across the road. The pub next door was lovely and served great food.

We have visited lots and lots of times and have never, ever had a bad stay. Lovely and friendly reception staff, lovely clean room and we were on the bottom floor which accomodated for my husband and my disabilities.

The room was clean and we had lovely fresh towels both days we were there. TV and kettle both worked and so did the hairdryer.

Wwe had no qualms about the room. The only thing we were disappointed by was the under cooked breakfast my husband received and the coffee machine was not working.

We will definitely be back as we wouldn't stay anywhere else now.

Room Tip: Ground floor for disabled.
