We have visited the gardens quite a few times but had never taken a guided tour before. Glad we did as we discovered areas and corners that we never knew were there. The guide was very knowledgeable about the history of the area which was usefull. This gives us good reason to return and wander at our leisure.

Beautiful gardens right by the river in the centre of York. They were one of the first things we came to when visiting the city- such a pleasant introduction and only minutes from York Minster.

Not as good as when I last visited as they have now built a small inn overlooking the river Ouse (near where the toilets usedto be).. The gardens didn't seem to be as well looked after as when I previouly visited and parts were fenced off.

Lively open green space just 2-3 mins walk from the hustle and bustle of York city centre.
Loads of wildlife, plenty of seats, well maintained gardens
