We had decided while in holiday we would have fish and chips, but would save it till we visited Whitby. While walking back into Whitby from the steps at the bottom of Whitby Abbey, we passed Robertson's restaurant and the take away next door. A meal deal of fish and chips, with mushy peas and a pot of tea was advertised in the window.....medium or small. We chose to sit inside and ordered he medium option. Both the young girl and the young lad that served us was polite and friendly. The restaurant was clean and nicely presented. Didn't have long to wait for our tea and the meal arrived shortly afterwards. Other people in the restaurant had already had their main meal and ordered deserts....ice cream sundae and chocolate brownie looked very tempting. Would highly recommend Robertson's for good value, good service and great food.

The food here is fantastic as I’m gluten free it isn’t always easy to find a place that excell at both menus but believe me this restaurant is tops , great food , friendly staff and value for money , looking forward to our next visit.

We had the medium special of cod, chips, peas and a pot of tea and it was so tasty and such good value compared to other places in Whitby. The batter was delicious and not the least bit greasy.. The staff were really nice and pleasant and we heard it being explained to someone that they would be better off having the special as it would be cheaper for what they wanted.

Great selection for veggies, the mushy pea fritter is PHENOMENAL! Staff were friendly and we were happy to wait for freshly cooked food. The one small improvement I’d suggest is to offer a battered quorn type sausage rather than the mushed up veggies type, we were a little disappointed when we bit into our veggie sausages. The rest of the food more than made up for it though. Was pleased to see deep fried pizza on the menu too, as I’d never seen it outside Scotland before, we’ll try that next time we visit Whitby!

Best homemade mushy pea fritters ever!
Not greasy, good portion size and reasonably priced
Don't know why people bother queuing for the Magpie when this is just over the bridge!
