Love this cottage, everything you need to enjoy your stay, absolutely spotless, great location, parking, ideal for families, I am a returning next year
4 of us and a dog stayed here and had a fantastic weekend. Everything you would need in the cottage was provided, cosy and warm with a nice view of the river. Walk into Whitby was about 20 mins ( once you get up the hill that is ). A bit steep but not too bad. Would certainly stay here again no problem.. Ann, Jerry, Caroline, Kevin and Kiyo the dog.
I stayed at Kauri with my sister, her husband, their two year old and my jack russell terrier! The cottage worked for all or our needs. The location is really excellent, an easy walk down the cinder track into Whitby centre and next to a beautiful viaduct over the river. The cottage itself was warm and welcoming and very well appointed with everything we needed for our short stay although we would have been fine if we had been stopping for longer. We couldn't believe how many glasses there were! The communication from Julie and Martin was excellent and although there were no problems during our stay I felt confident that they would have been happy to help if it had been needed. The only downside for us was watching a boisterous two year old over three floors but we knew that this was the case before we booked. Overall we would be happy to return to Kauri another time. I would definitely recommend it.
I stayed at Kauri Cottage this weekend with my 7 other friends for my birthday and it was absolutely beautiful! The surroundings were stunning, it is right under the viaduct next to the river with lovely views. Although it is a 30 minute walk into whitby, this worked for us as it was close enough to walk but far away enough to feel out of it and relaxed away from the madness! The cottage was brilliant. Despite there being 8 of us and being warned that it may be a bit cramped, we found that there was plenty of room for us and everyone had a bed! The cottage is beautifully furnished and decorated and just an all round beautiful place. We took full advantage of the balcony and its views every morning with our morning cuppa, and I have honestly never felt so peaceful! The weekend was absolutely brilliant and none of us wanted to leave! Everyone around us was so friendly, from Martin and Julie and the neighbours, to the residence of Whitby. It is all round just a lovely place and we can't thank Martin and Julie enough for allowing us to stay and trusting us with us being a large group of teenagers! Hopefully, we will be returning in September for another stay!

A group of 6 of us stayed here again for the New Year festivities - our third New Year running. Absolutely lovely accommodation. Everything you could ever want is provided. Furnishings, bedding, accessories, kitchen appliances - everything is perfect. The house is so fab we didn't bother going out at night - even on New Year's Eve! It's very warm and cosy - we didn't have the heating on in the bedrooms and it was turned down to almost off in the rest of the accommodation. Wifi is provided now so that's just about everything covered! And there are 3 toilets! Only one drawback - there's no shower in the second floor bathroom so it was a bit busy in the first floor bathroom in the mornings but that's not a big deal - we managed fine. A brisk walk into Whitby takes only 20 minutes, and there's a lovely pub in nearby Ruswarp (The Bridge Inn) which serves great food! We've already booked into Kauri for New Year 2015 as we enjoy it so much! Highly recommended!!
