We stayed Fri night - Sun am & was bowled over by Phill, Sophie & the lovely Elodie. We managed to secure a parking spot right outside the door & thanks to the permits provided by the Belfry we didn't have to pay a penny for parking for the entire stay (valid for 4 Days)

On arrival, Sophie gave us the warmest of welcomes & showed us to our room. I've always stayed in travelodges or premier inns & have learned not to dig around too much as some are cleaner than others.. but when the door opened to our room (room no.1) I was pleasantly surprised.
The room looked freshly decorated but when you start looking around you just realise that the cleanliness standards here are just another level, to the point I made a joke of trying to find a spot of dust in my room, on top of the pictures, above the door etc... Nothing!

The dining room & lounge, again, absolutely spotless!

As for breakfast, on the first day, I asked for poached eggs on toast which wasn't on the menu but this was no trouble at all & the last day I treated myself to eggs royale as an alternative to the eggs benedict on the specials board - absolutely cooked to perfection each day & with a plentiful supply of cereal, toast, fruit, yoghurt etc we were well & truly set up for the day.

Phill & Sophie are fab hosts & can offer up local information at the drop of a hat, only to keen to help if you need with anything you need/want.

I'm a very light sleeper & was worried about thin walls & the like but this was no problem at all - the bed was so comfy.

A weekend in Whitby was not enough for us... We will be back and cannot rate this b&b highly enough, the hosts, the actual b&b and the food... Topped off with the fab location, just a 10-15 min stroll to the beach and the famous whale bone arch.

We will be back, thanks guys!!

Sarah, thanks for the great review! It was lovely to meet you both and we are pleased that you had such a good stay in Whitby. Hope it made Mark's birthday even more enjoyable. Thanks for giving our room the 'four in a bed' treatment... i'm happy that you didn't find any dust! Hope to see you again soon and you can explore more of the Yorkshire coast, hopefully in the sunshine!

Just spent three nights at The Belfry which was the perfect location to explore the town and local coastline. Our contemporary suite, on the top floor, was spotless and had all you needed for a comfortable stay (tea/coffee making facilities, hairdryer, bath robes, complementary toiletries) and a fantastic shower! Phill, Sophie and Elodie made us feel so welcome - great local knowledge, hearty breakfasts with "specials" and plenty of smiles from baby Elodie! Parking was no problem with a free four day permit for use on the West Cliff which all in all made for a relaxing break away. We look forward to our next visit! Steve & Rachel

The Belfry makes a holiday in Whitby very special. We’ve stayed here several times and like everything about it. Firstly it’s a tall, beautiful Victorian building on the West Cliff and is only a few minutes’ walk away from the beach, the many cosy cafes, pubs and intriguing shops. We’ve always found parking very easy; getting a space just outside or very near and Phill or Sophie then provide you with a free ‘scratch card’ type parking permit for up to 4 days. The bedrooms feel cosy, spacious and relaxing, and The Belfry has been decorated in a serene, coastal style with modern furnishings which completely compliment this lovely building. Phill, Sophie (and baby Elodie) clearly work very hard to create and maintain the high standards here and they’ve given a lot of thought to the finishing touches which make all the difference to their guests. There’s a very useful lounge with small bottles of fresh milk and a fridge for the guests’s use. They’re very knowledgeable about the local area and like to chat with and share recommendations such as the best eateries and places to visit. Their own breakfasts are excellent. A good selection of cereals, fruit yoghurts etc or any combination of the ingredients of a full English cooked to perfection and beautifully presented in the light cheerful dining room overlooking St Hilda’s. We would recommend The Belfry to anyone and look forward to returning ourselves.

My husband, daughter and I had a wonderful stay at the Belfry. We received a warm welcome from Sophie, Phill and Elodie. Our room was beautifully decorated and very clean with a lovely view of the sea.

Sophie and Phill have a really great knowledge of the area and pointed us to the sites to see, good pubs and great fish and chips. The breakfast was tasty and set us up for the day.

We highly recommend a stay at the Belfry. Sophie and Phill are fantastic hosts. Hope to visit again soon.

Just returned from this wonderful B and B. Phill, and Sophie are so friendly. Our room was lovely. Everywhere was extremely clean. There is a lounge and a fridge with milk.
The breakfast was delicious and very well cooked. We were given a free parking permit and were lucky to be able to park just outside. We did not book ourselves as it was a Christmas present from our daughter son in law and son. What a find! We will certainly be recommending it to our friends and would not hesitate to book again. The B and B is in a good position with the short walk to the West Cliff.
