Nice hotel fairly recently refurbished by the look of it. Found it eventually after driving past once because from the road you can’t see the name “The George”, it says Arlington. Sineage needs looking at.
The staff at this hotel are very good. Reception, friendly. A big shout out to Alastair who served us at dinner, an exceptionally good waiter.
Sharing a room with my daughter we wanted a twin bed room. It was clean, tidy, basic. The pillows were, in my daughter’s words, like bullets, really hard, but after a very long journey we were too tired to go to reception and ask if they had replacements.
We invited guests to dinner, the meal was very good. Then joined by others for drinks we were very well looked after by Alistair. Lovely meal, beautifully cooked, very pleasant evening.
Breakfast. We chose the full English. It was ok. We could see they were busy so didnt mind waiting. The complaint we have is being given crockery from someone else’s table. Granted, the cups, saucers, cutlery had not been used (we hope) , but really, once guests have been sitting at a table you clear the lot and relay with clean crockery! You don’t pass what’s unused to another table surely? Someone could have handled it if not used it. We didn’t like our cups, saucers etc passed to us from the table opposite.More
