My husband and I are here now sitting out on the decking watching the swans and signets pass by us on the river. This is a perfect place for a couple. We are currently here celebrating our 34th wedding anniversary and it's been wonderful. We had plans on going out in the evenings to the Indian and Thai restaurants nearby...we decided not to as it's too lovely here to leave for the evenings the view is stunning so instead we have the bbq going (which is supplied complete with coals) and our wine on the decking which has furniture to sit out on. The little house itself is beautiful and very comfortable. Amanda the owner is fabulous and goes way and beyond to make sure everything is OK. She has even offered us late checkout tomorrow at 2pm instead of 11am as her next guests are not arriving till the next day. On arrival Amanda met us with the keys and showed us around. In the fridge was eggs milk butter bacon orange juice wine lemons and sauces. There is a choice of beautiful muslei and porridge pots also left as well as kettle chips and a yummy bar of dark chocolate oh and a very fresh loaf of bread. We feel spoiled. Everything is so clean...lovely bedding and luxurious towels. Romantic lighting. The bathroom is also a wet room which is fantastic...lovely showers. Amanda had also left gorgeous coconut shampoo and conditioner as well as beautiful bathroom sprays. All in all a fantastic stay with tonight left to enjoy. I highly recommend but I don't want you all booking because we want availability to come back
Excellent! It is a little piece of heaven. Clean and tastefully decorated with lovely little touches to make your stay perfect. Lovely owner who was very thoughtful and helpful throughout. Definitely be back.
I booked The Boathouse for a mid week break for myself and my partner, I wasn't looking to be in the Norwich area just anywhere that was close to the Broads. I wouldn't usually book a place with only one review, but after reading the one review and studying the pictures I made a decision that it looked perfect for our stay.
We arrived late on a sunny afternoon with full instructions of how to get ourselves into the property, electric gate and key codes which was easy enough. It was just as I'd expected and much much more, it was beautiful inside and out. The position is just on the river, patio doors open onto decking where there's a couple of sun loungers, table and chairs and a gas barbecue, it was lovely sitting out on the decking enjoying the sun and the bottle of wine Amanda the owner had kindly bought for us. I would have been happy to sit there for the whole holiday as it was so peaceful and relaxing, every now and again swans would swim by or a small boat or canoe may pass.
Inside the Boathouse is very tastefully decorated with quality furniture, a very comfortable double bed, quality bedding, a very comfortable sofa complete with comfy cushions, tv with Netflix, great wifi, a beautiful fitted kitchen with everything you could ever need and much more besides, including a dishwasher, microwave and coffee maker. If that wasn't more than we expected Amanda had provided milk, bread, wine, cheese, biscuits, breakfast cereals, teas, coffee, sugar, juice, water, cordial, eggs, yogurts and more.
We visited the local pub the Brushcutter on the first evening for dinner, probably five minutes walk away, the food was lovely and a great choice on the menu, we noticed at least two more within walking distance but we didn't use them. Another night we used the Thailand restaurant but we had a take away from there and ate it on the patio, well it was a shame not to.
If you're looking for somewhere that's peaceful and romantic and within easy reach of the Norfolk Broads you won't be disappointed with the Boathouse.
The reason for only few reviews is that it's quite new and when word gets out about how stunningly beautiful it is I'm sure we'll have trouble being able to book it again.
I stayed here over the course of April and May a couple of nights each week whilst working in Norfolk. What a beautiful little find. Although bijou, Amanda, the host, has excellent attention to detail from the beautiful soft furnishings and decor to ingredients for pancakes or a bottle of wine on arrival and you want for nothing! It was wonderful waking up to the view of the river with the swans swimming past giving a great sense of relaxation. There are some lovely foodie pubs within walking distance although it is self catering if you prefer to stay and eat on the terrace. Highly recommend !
