We visited the Sandstone Nab while staying with family. Arriving at 15:15 on bank holiday Monday we noted that the carpark seemed half empty. We were surprised when advised that there would be a 45-minute wait for food, despite half the tables being empty.

We duly waited for for the first course to be served. After our empty plates were collected, we were then ignored for a further hour before we eventually gave up on any desire for a dessert, meaning we were unable to take advantage of the children’s meal deals. (Furthermore, on leaving we noted a sign saying children eat for £1 from 3-5pm on weekdays, but we were charged in full.)

I even had to go up to the bar to pay, having not seen our server anywhere nearby for more than half an hour.

On leaving we noted a sign that was not on the door at 3pm advising no food orders after 6pm and pub close at 8pm, and also noted two of the other servers leaving with us at 17:30.

This is not the first lot of slow service for this poor establishment we’ve experienced. The kitchens can obviously not cope with the restaurant at 50% capacity. The only person I’d recommend going back to this place would be Gordon Ramsey! They have failed us with poor service on three occasions now, they won’t get another attempt with my family!

Popped in for Sunday lunch. Food was nice. Didn’t wait long and plenty of it. The staff were very nice and friendly. Highly recommended

Not much to say really apart from that the food is terrible. Takes upwards of an hour for food from ordering to be served. Food not very good and despite 2 for 1 deal it still works out expensive compared to other pubs.

Hello Janet,
I'm very sorry you've had this unfortunate experience with us recently. Judging from the date posted I'm guessing your night of visit was on a Friday Saturday or Sunday where we will state large wait times upon entry to our venue as we are incredibly busy across all 3 days. Anything that is wrong with the meals at all will be rectified if it's brought to our notice, we cannot honestly be serving terrible food if we're still very popular after two and a half years of being here whilst maintaining 4 star reviews on Tripadvisor and 4.2 on Facebook. Our prices are also competitively calculated across all local pubs in the area and our food hands down wins on price, even more so on our Steak & Wine or Curry menu nights etc. Or even just our Thursdays when you can enjoy the steak and wine, 241 starters and desserts and come away from it only paying £28 pounds.
I'm hoping that this was just the one off situation with the food and would love if you could pass on any feedback regarding on it to SandstoneNab.Eston@Marstons.co.uk so I can inform the kitchen team and hopefully improve on our quality.
Kind regards Management,

Came hear for a family meal it’s not cheap for food or drinks so you would expect good quality food but it was dreadful . Pre frozen and well over cooked I had the burger it was like a lump of rubber my wife’s and daughters chicken was so dry it was impossible to eat. The pub is nice inside and the staff were lovely but the meals NO THANKS

Hello Ged, we're very sorry your visit didn't meet your expectations of us. Most of our food is fresh, including the burgers with the only exceptions being the meals pre-prepared to Marstons specs and shipped to us straight from our supplier. If at any point during your meal you feel that it isn't upto standard or would prefer a different item just mention it to our staff and we will replace your meal, or offer desserts or discount the bill as we see fit. I do hope you try us again as we have been here for over 2 years now and still have a respectable standing in the community.
