Description: London's City Spice claims to be the best Indian restaurant on Brick Lane. It's quite a claim to live up to but we think that it might do just that. Located centrally on the notorious street, City Spice announces itself with neon signage and a bold blue painted exterior. Inside the dining room is bright, thanks to both large windows on two sides and a light, cream paint job and white tiled flooring. Entirely modern but unpretentious, the restaurant has modern furniture and contemporary images of London on the walls as well as touches of Indian influences throughout, its decor doubtless appealing to East London's young and arty set. Although inspired by the Bangladeshi origin of its owners and chefs, City Spice's menu covers most Indian regions, providing curries, tandoori specialties and tikkas alongside recipes from Bangladesh. Competitively priced for the area, it really isn't difficult to see why pre-booking a table is absolutely essential for this popular restaurant.

City Spice has a great vegan menu with plenty of options, including a thali plate.
It was such a treat to have a delicious, proper vegan curry (most curries in restaurants are made with ghee butter). Thank you!

Recommend by a friend, not disappointed. Food was fresh and tasty and the staff were helpful and friendly. One of many in Brick Lane but you won’t be disappointed by your visit.

I have been here on a few occasions with friends and it never disappoints. There is a good variety of both veg and non veg dishes. The staff are always very polite. Location is great in the heart of the vibrant Brick Lane.

We were enticed in by the Manager outside saying "free bottle of wine on the house" what they fail to tell you is the wine is like paint stripper and truly awful so we ended up ordering two Cobra beers!

The Staff are just plain miserable and never smile, the atmosphere is really depressing and as a Customer you honestly feel as though you are an inconvenience to the Staff. The food was just average nothing to write home about. No hot towel to wipe your hands and service with a "scowl" the Manager really needs to do something about the Staff as they really are not very welcoming at all, and with plain average food I think they have a lot of work to do!

A group of 11 descended on the City Spice and again, they made us feel truly welcome. Bit of table rearrangement etc and we finally got ready to order.
Drinks included the normal ‘cobra’ which they also carry in draught and a couple of bottles of wine. Poppadums which were accompanied with the normal side dishes but an additional coconut & almond paste - absolutely stunning. Comment also needs to be made about the mango chutney. Without a doubt the best I have ever tasted,
For my main course I had Fish Tikka Massala - first ever experience of a fish dish in a curry house and certainly not my last.
Great visit and excellent experience.
