Good for: Romantic
Dining options: Reservations
Neighbourhood: Soho
Description: Lit by a stunning vaulted glass ceiling and framed in English Oak panelling, the vibrant eatery features the original judge's bench, dock and witness stand from its days as the Great Marlborough Street Magistrates Court, which witnessed the trials of Oscar Wilde, Mick Jagger and John Lennon. Now a destination for more culinary pursuits, the restaurants' past has been superbly incorporated to create a charming, romantic dining venue. Sampling flavours from the ancient oriental trade pathways, diners take a culinary journey down the historic "Silk Route" with seasonally inspired menus of locally and internationally sourced ingredients, expertly prepared by Head Chef Rajesh Parmar and his talented team. Harking back to the days when spices were traded as precious commodities across the sub-continent and beyond, dishes are infused with the treasured tastes of the east, focusing on Chinese, Indian and Thai accents paired to create arresting flavour compositions.

Our friends bought us a meal at Silk last year and we had one of the best dining experiences of our lives!

We ordered the duck breast which was heavenly - perfectly cooked! The food was so good that we are hoping to make arrangements to go back on another special occasion.

Lovely setting -dreadful food

Cold raw scallops that had to be sent back and weren't any better 2nd time round.
Beef Takrai - 3 tiny 'slivers' of beef that tasted of very little.
Soft shell crab - not crispy at all with a sauce that tasted of precisely nothing
Lamb rump ok but still not going to set the world alight.
Puddings - dry chocolate pudding, shop ice cream, mostly left.

Virgin experience should seriously think about removing this from their repertoire as it will be damaging their brand.

Expectations were high as it was a birthday gift BUT the reality was abysmal. The welcome by staff dismissive and wrong orders taken The food. A real CON. An Indian meal served without rice or bread included! Half a glass of champagne cocktail each as part of the offer. Toilets had no toilet paper or hand towels and a very wet floor! (Ladies).
Shame as the courtroom where we had the meal was a lovely setting.

A belated Christmas gift and a smashing setting for a tasty fusion of Thai and Indian foods, served most attractively and whilst not large portions, the taste and spices made up for it. Wonderful eating experience in an unusual typically British courtroom restaurant...

It's set in a great location in a fancy hotel infront of the trendy Carnaby Street.
However the food arrived in such small portions, presentation was very poor, and the taste was definitely not even worth mentioning.
Service was okay, but then again, they only had 2 other clients while we were there so not much pressure going on.
Would not go back.
