This is the original shopping centre in Stratford useful as a means of getting from the station to the High Street. More than forty years ago there was a branch of HMV where I bought one of my first records, a DG box set of Berlioz’s Romeo and Juliet. Nowadays it might be possible to buy a hip-hop CD from a market stall inside. There’s a WH Smith, a Sainsbury’s and Clinton’s Cards. No more will an eccentric circuit judge sniff the meat at a butcher’s stall. He has retired and Bow County Court is no more.
