The pub crammed in far too many people for Sunday lunch - making it uncomfortable and unpleasant. Having booked over a month in advance, I was surprised to be seated in the back in an uncharacterful room leading to the toilets. Despite having pre-arranged provisions for a baby, our table wasn't large enough to accommodate us comfortably. Food was good, but not good enough to deserve the hype. Staff were an delight, made the absolute best of a challenging situation.

My wife and I are local to the pub and have visited on many an occasion yet I realised today I have never really appreciated the toilet as I perhaps should have. An utter joy to complete a void within. Clean, bright, spacious and great decor / smell. Thank you!!

Had a very good quality Sunday lunch with friends and family. Cosy English pub/restaurant and family orientated. Only thing that let the dining experience down was two of the serving girls, dont know whether they were struggling with hangovers but they struggled to smile and just went through the motions, a bit grumpy girls, you need to cheer up when serving the public.

We had beef roast and it was excellent! they give you quite a big portion and meat was absolutely tender. Best around this area I think. Also inside is very cosy and great ambience.

The Hemingway has some mixed reviews; in my experience the bad ones are undeserved. This is a little-known East London gem that's worth the walk or bus from the nearest tube.

It's a fine gastropub; go with friends for a loud, big open bar serving exceptional food and great bar staff who know their way around the well-stocked bottle stack.

The vibe is quirky and retro with a hint of old country-house; with additional dining tables towards the back. It's an instantly cosy and welcoming bar, and the food is a cut above. Highly recommended.
