We wanted an alternative place to eat to the big green store, so we decided to book lunch at Dinner.
First impression was of a professional but genuinely friendly meet and greet. The décor of this restaurant is brown and rather austere, with no table cloths. A vase of flowers would work wonders. We were ushered to an OK table but moved to a better one with no trouble. The staff here have charm and like to do what they can to keep the customer happy.
We chose the set lunch comprising a small menu selection. The food was interesting, healthy, delicious and reasonably priced. The wine prices were pitched at visiting oligarchs rather than mere locals, but the selection is good.
A vase of flowers, a simple table cloth and a more amicably priced lunchtime wine pairing would have earned five stars for this otherwise excellent restaurant.

Wonderful dinner, with multilayer flavours! The starter of chicken oysters was incredible, the iberico chop outstanding while the chicken main dish with truffle and mushroom pasta was incredible! Great food and service and a good sommelier! What more can you ask for :)

We had a Saturday night reservation for two and when arriving a couple of minutes early were escorted to our table immediately on arrival; so far, so good.

Why four stars, not five? The starters were sublime: I had the Octopus and my partner the Marrowbone; I had a little food envy but both dishes were truly special, with a rainbow of flavours perfectly blended and well worthy of the accolade. Unfortunately, drinks service and order taking was slow- meaning we were incredibly hungry by the time the starters (which were relatively quick to arrive AFTER ordering) arrived. In the context of two stars, I expect things to be a little more slick.

The mains were very good; albeit I wish I’d been more adventurous than the fillet of beef. It was nice enough- but didn’t feel as adventurous or delicately flavoured as I expected from Heston; my partner’s pigeon was the pick of the two; but both dishes were outshone by the starters.

Desserts were again very good; for the 3rd course in 3 my partner made the better and more interesting choice (brown bread ice cream w/ salted caramel) - but were also very rich and quite heavy at that point in proceedings.

All in all- this was an excellent dinner, but for two Michelin stars and £300 for two (including service but just one cocktail each, a half bottle and a further glass of desert wine - we’re not big drinkers), I expected slightly more. It would have taken slicker service and mains/desserts as good as the starters to bump this up to five stars.

Thank Sally H
