Impressive building and a good location. Needs a good refurbishment, getting a little worm inside.

First room, next to kitchen extractor, poor sleeping arrangement, they did move us into a larger room which was quiet but the decor was tired.

Room Tip: Try and avoid "internal room"

Good: - A perfectly located Hotel with a bus stop directly outside and a Tube station only a couple of hundred metres away made this the perfect base for travelling around all the sites of London that we wanted to see. The continental breakfast was good and when we asked for an extra pillow this arrived very quickly. The hotel was very clean and all the staff were friendly and helpful.

Bad: - The Hotel does look a little tired and in need of investment. There were no bedside tables and the room was uncomfortably warm (but it was a very warm few days). In our room the bed was oddly situated so not much room to get out from one side. The bathroom was very cramped and dated with a large chip out of the bath, but functional and clean. Lots of noise from doors closing throughout the night, slow close doors would help with this. There is limited parking, however we were not told during a phone call that there was a £10 charge per night for this. (still cheaper than other local options)

Room Tip: Ask for an inside or rear room to avoid traffic noise

We paid £122, now it’s being advertised for £95. At either price it’s still excellent value including a substantial choice of ‘continental’ breakfast. The building and the decor of the public rooms are all very nice clean and well decorated. The room, 312, was a little dated but apart from a lot of hair in the bath plug hole and a very old but efficient shower head everything was fine.
Whilst it’s not the best London hotel I’ve stayed in, its definitely the best at a budget price.
In addition the bus stop serving all the main tourist destinations is right outside the door.
At these prices I shan’t bother looking elsewhere for my next visit.

I hardly can list all good things that make Columbia hotel exceptional. It is in a magnificent historic building, centrally located on a square in front of Lancaster Gate to Kensington Gardens. The surroundings are so pleasant that you feel instantly relaxed and far away from crowded streets. At the same time, the two buses that stop right in front of the hotel lead to all the sights directly or with a very easy connection.
The staff at reception and breakfast were extremely friendly and attentive, and I would like to thank everyone who created this peaceful and wonderful atmosphere for us! We received early check-in and late check-out, which gave us more time. We were in a quadruple room that was very spacious - over 25 square meters, high ceiling - about three and a half meters, with two large windows, a seating area with a sofa and two armchairs, lovely wallpapers and curtains, very clean and comfortable.
If you book directly from the hotel you have some nice surprises.

Really liked this hotel and would like to stay there again.
We stayed in a bigger room for four people and I was surprised at how big and roomy it was. We had four big suitcases with us but there was still plenty of space left even when we hade them laying open on the floor.

A nice continental breakfast was included in the price with a lot of options to choose from.

The location is perfect if you want to stay close to the city center. It's next to Hyde Park, close to 2 tube station and lots of buses that stops outside.
Many restaurants within a few minutes walk and Oxford Street is a 15 minutes walk away if you're interested in shopping.
