Owner description: London Underground, better known as the Tube, has 11 lines covering 402km and serving 270 stations. Opened in 1863, it is the world's oldest underground railway network, and one of the largest.

London metro is the oldest in the world and because of long experience it is also one of the smoothest I have encountered. However the single tickets are very pricey, up to seven euros per ticket. Also most of the stations have lots of stairs so they are not meant for people with disabilities. And especially in hotter days the air conditioning isn't strong enough to make the stations or trains cooldown and it can get really hot fast.

Very easy to navigate with signs practically everywhere. Clean, comfortable, and most importantly, we felt safe using this. Buy an Oyster Card!!! You will save money. We had 40 pounds each on our cards for 10 days in London and only had to spend another 5 pounds each to top them up because we used them so much. Beware that some stations have stairs and best to check to see if they have elevators (lifts) People were so very friendly and smiled. Some folks we saw frequently and talked during our journeys. See Angel Station-The escalators there are the longest in Europe. In the bottom of some stations we were entertained by street performers. Much untapped talents! This was our first time in the UK and we loved London.

Hard to really sum up the London Underground in a single post. Now cleaner and brighter than ever before. Safe and cheap if you travel after 9:30. The best way to see London. Every stop is full of history

I loved using the Tube in London: The Oyster Card was easy to purchase and use and we were able to get wherever we wanted to go by just checking the maps in the station and following the signs (and sometimes the throngs). Rush hour was intensely crowded, but kind of a kick... just suck in your breath, look down, don't talk, hang on to a pole, and be ready to push your way out at a stop. I used BART in the Bay Area for years and found the London Tube to be so much more efficient, clean, user-friendly, and downright fun. (Coming from a now-rural dweller, that says a lot.) The elaborate labyrinth of connections and passageways leading to them is a marvel in itself.

What can I say that hasn't already been said ? Ontime, clean, simple to understand, and get you where you need to be, with no fuss at all. Great!
