Barney provided a very entertaining tour around the East End on a wet miserable evening - perhaps this helped with the atmosphere of the story of Jack the Ripper.

Great walking tour on a wet and chilly evening with the well informed, funny and articulate Barney (who is also a Tower yeoman, super interesting guy). Learned a lot about life in London for the poor and struggling in late 1800s—and a vivid account of the Ripper murders. Very well done!

We don't normally do tours as we prefer to wander around on our own but this tour was certainly worth doing. We learnt so much not only about Jack the Ripper (intriguing history and fascinating to hear our guide's theory as to who the Ripper was and why he did it- I would love him to be right!) but also of the history of the local area. We were a small group (unlike the other tours we passed) and were able to hear every word spoken and to ask questions as we went along. Highly recommended!

We chose this tour from looking at reviews and were not disappointed! Excellent tour guide and the small group made this a must do when visiting London. The guide knew exactly what he was talking about and could answer any questions people had. He was so friendly and significantly made the tour so exciting! Could not recommend enough, for the tiny price you pay it is defiantly worth it!

We had a great time on this tour (and we usually don't like walking tours). Dave was fun, playful, enthusiastic, and very knowledgeable. He shared so much information and somehow managed to keep it all clear and engaging. We didn't just learn about a serial killer - we learned about London's cultural, political, and socioeconomic history.
It was also just plain spooky and fun walking through Jack the Ripper's turf as the sun set and the night grew cold.

We are a small group of Beefeaters Yeoman Warders from the Tower who love history of the East End, and Jack the Ripper is a great way to tell that story, and to show people a place in London not often seen my visitors
As we always say, we are the Longest running and oldest tour of this type in London, and our experience shows.

Front up, as a family, we don't often do tours. With kids in tow (ages now 12,15,17) its not always enough to keep their attention, and this being a 2+ hour tour, and in the evening when they are tired, it could have been a bit tedious for them. It wasnt. We had a tour with Barny (?) in a group of approx 35 and it was entertaining and enthralling from start to end. As previous reviews state, time just disappears, you see areas of London you don't normally see, and the guide was clear, enthusiastic and keen to keep your attention. (The same I dont think could maybe be said for other tour companies we passed, so we definitely made the right choice going with Ripping Yarns). As advertised they don't glorify the Ripper but give such detail to make you clearly imagine street life at the time of the killings. Such good value for money. Have already recommended to others who are sceptical about the concept of a tour.
