I have been looking forward to visiting a Franco Manca after a friend recommended visiting, and lets face it, as a couple we had an enjoyable experience that did not cost a great deal (under £25 for starter, mains and drinks). The kitchen is open plan with two large pizza ovens, with chefs preparing and cooking the pizza in view. For example, we saw a chef with a wedge of meat and cutting this into slices to go on the pizza.
The reason this is average is down to attention to detail. The Garlic Bread with Mozarella came as a sharing starter. We both commented on the lack of garlic, to make our way to the two centre pieces and be hit by 10+ pieces of garlic slices per mouthful. For mains, the number 4, the tomato was slopped on the pizza off centre, with one slice cut as a wedge. The waiter talked over another table to ask how our meal was. Although minor comments, this felt like something that coud so easily be corrected to be the perfect place to visit.
