Travelled from London to Chippenham and about 80* in carriage as no air con and unable to open windows. Totally ridiculous and very very hot and uncomfortable.

Excited to try the new Hitachi train out, then very disappointed and embarrassed to live in England.Having travelled in Japan and Eastern Europe and Europe, these new trains are an absolute disgrace. 1,The seating is 3rd class and rock hard. 2, No restaurant cars, even though they have the room, they are meant to have a trolley service, but none available on our train. 3, Lack of communication, tannoy or via the on board screen's, no information supplied as to which carriage or doors to get out of the train at Stonehouse or Stroud etc - the train overlaps Stroud Station, at both ends and only a DMU size train fits at Stonehouse.
It looks like the budgets and funds are being diverted to the fat cats and Shareholder's- not to seats and our trains.

on our last leg of several around england, we'd decided (based on my prior experiences with GWR to/from cornwall) to splurge a bit on First Class
we did have reserved seats, which was nice
the luggage storage areas were already full when we boarded at Bodmin Parkway (although i later saw some at the very front of the train), so we wound up leaving our bags on the floor, keeping an eye to see if the seat there would be needed for a disabled passenger (there was soon a pile of other stuff on top of our bags, so it would have been difficult to move them anyway)
the buffet car was closed until Exeter with a cute handwritten sign including an (un)happy face letting passengers know about this - a trolley did come through in First Class, but by the time the misnamed Buffet Express opened, the poor woman (only 1 person staffing) was besieged for the rest of the journey
but the really worst and unacceptable part - the loos! first the loo closest to (behind) us didn't flush from the time we boarded, so at some point during the journey i went to the loo in the front of the car, which was locked - i patiently stood there for almost 15 minutes and finally a kind passenger sitting nearby noticed me and told me that the guard had locked that loo! (no sign or any indication that it was out of service!) grrrrrrr

I've travelled on this service for 20 years, only because there has been no alternative. In all those years theres never been any money spent on updating their carriages and the Wifi connection is still awful. Come on GMW, stop paying out to the greedy shareholders and invest money where it should be going, to make the journey a more pleasurable experience rather than the long mind blowing trip it is currently.

I took the Malvern train from Brighton to Bath.
Lovely bright new three coach train.
The seats for a change were really comfortable for such a long journey.
But sadly the space between the seats was woefully inadequate.
Ended up playing tootsies with my fellow passengers.
