The house was great and just what we needed. Very comfortably fitted 5 of us in a large twin room, a double and single room. Lovely big patio and garden although we didn't use it. The beach is a 10 minute drive and the village is an easy walk. Great location for getting the train into Liverpool too. The heating is controlled remotely but Jo was very responsive to any queries and the house is lovely and cosy with the electric fire in the front room as well. I'd definitely stay here again.
Tried to book this through Trip Advisor but got no response from owner. Found her website and tried to email, still no response. Finally got hold of her via mobile number to be told it was no longer available as a holiday letting. Was v apologetic. I thought other potential bookers or repeat bookers might like to know.

Red Squirrel Cottage is situated close to the trains and shopping. It is well furnished with kitschy ceramic squirrels everywhere. It was generally clean and tidy. However, there were a few things that would have made our visit more comfortable. For example, we were provided only one small bath towel each for the duration of our four night stay. No hand towels or face clothes available. The combination tub/shower in the main bath is not suitable for elderly people. You are required to step over a very high enclosure to access the tub. Once in the tub the flimsy base bounces up and down when you move which could throw off your balance (especially so when the tub is wet and slick with soap). The shower curtain was not very clean. The kitchen was underequipped (there were few suitable pots and pans and a sharp knife was not to be found). The third bedroom was not made up. For the price of the let I expected a bit more.

Excellent accommodation close to lovely, clean beach and pine forest-ideal for long walks with Molly (the dog!) Younger members of the family were able to go into Liverpool shopping before meeting us back at The Cross House Inn where everyone was so friendly. Large, enclosed garden with ample seating area for relaxing. Cottage is full of character with modern amenities. Lovely touch of scones and jam on our arrival. Overall, an enjoyable time was had by all! Would certainly return.
