What a beautiful place. The old house is set just back from the shore of Windemere, its picturesque and pretty much spotless. Towards the bottom of the path to the lake it seemed a bit grimy but to be fair I'm not even sure I should've been there. The decor fits well with the house, older worn leather chairs and intricate crowning. Very pretty. Not too far from Windemere Town itself, also a minute or so from the visitors centre.
We were made very welcome. Having a delicious and well priced afternoon tea whilst our room was made ready. The room was spotless. With complimentary sweets and water. Ideally a fridge would have got down a treat. Maybe air conditioning or a fan too. But it was pushing 30 degrees.
The food was incredible and when I think about it, very well priced. The scorched cod was one of the best fish dishes I'd ever had. Personally I'm not a fan of silver service but that's what you get here. I do find it a tad awkward but these guys are really friendly and you can tell they'd do anything for you.
Would I stay here again? Yeah. Were thinking next year. More
