“Fantastic value”
Reviewed 13 April 2014 for a stay in April 2014

Our 2nd stay at Shelter Stone. Lovely bungalow. Spacious, clean and well equipped. Great position for walking, climbing and shopping in Keswick. Good for all ages. We really appreciated the welcome gifts of wine, milk, sugar, tea, coffee, biscuits etc. All linen and towels provided. We made good use of the free pass for the leisure centre for swimming and the gym. It gave us something to do when it was raining!
We'll be back!

“wonderful large bungalow”
Reviewed 6 October 2013 for a stay in October 2013

My wife and i booked Shelter Stone last minute and was suprised how big the bungalow was. It had everything you needed to make for an enjoyable holiday and it was just far enough out of the hustle and bustle of Keswick. We mett up with the owner Craig at the end of our holiday and booked for next year with another of his properties.

“Lovely cottage, ideally located.”

We spent a week at this cottage and were very impressed. It has ample room for a large family having one double, two twin rooms and a den. There was also a travel cot with a comfortable mattress for our 6 month old.

The cottage is equipped with everything you need and the washer/dryer certainly comes in useful if travelling with little ones. Craig and Susanne left a few welcome touches for us, such as milk, tea, biscuits and wine which was very thoughtful and got our holiday off to a good start.

One of the appealing things for us was the free leisure pass as it enabled us to take our little one swimming on a couple of occasions free of charge which is great because you usually find entertaining children and finding different things to do everyday end up costing a small fortune!

We walked into Keswick most days and this took under 20 minutes which was better than trying to find town centre car parking - it also meant we could sample some of the local pubs if we fancied!

As our little one is in bed early every night we used a couple of the local takeaways with the Thai one (Star of Siam) being our favourite - see separate review and we visited a few local attractions that I will also review separately. This was our first holiday as a family and not only were we extremely lucky with the weather but we had a wonderful time :)

“high quality accomodation on edge of keswick”
Reviewed 22 June 2013 for a stay in June 2013

Did not want a full week as only had 5 days off, the owner was very helpful and amenable and very kindly priced the accommodation accordingly.
The bungalow is high quality with 3 good size double bedrooms and comfy beds. The kitchen is fully kitted out with everything we could need and a welcome pack of tea/coffee and wine was left for us. Good size sitting room with 3 double sofas and telly. Room upstairs kitted out as kids playroom but as we had no kids with us didn't use it at all, but helpful to know if you do have kids with you.
We were lucky enough to have great weather so made the best of the garden and furniture provided.
The walk in to town is pleasant and takes about 20 minutes, the walk back is a bit harder as its uphill but we usually got a taxi which cost between 3-4 pounds.-well situated for access to roads out of Keswick if you're wanting to explore further afield
