The thing about the hospitality industry is you never know who you are serving.
My group of 30 well behaved mature adults was considered too big for them to serve.
We happily helped them out by only staying for one drink.
30 of us have made a note to never return and my friends from all over the UK will be making sure the word is spread.
A word of advice to the management and staff: the families eating your food deserve smiles and politeness from you.

A lovely menu brought us to try the fayre at this great Keswick public bar. Alas we were disappointed with a couple of things. The price was about 10 pounds to much in our opinion. We have to bear in mind this is not a restaurant, so if the price is over 50 quid for 2, both having a starter each a main course each and 2 drinks each you expect great things. It was not great. Soup of the day......tomato......distinctly average with no flavour at all......a mixed fish cake consisting of various sea life.....distinctly average also was not a good start. Then the main courses, my cod and chips was @ctually not bad, very lightly done and a decent taste. My wife’s chicken, black pudding and haggis attempt with root veggies and boiled potatoes was not good. Half of the boiled potatoes were raw and inedible. Terrible. We did mention to the waitress who asked if we wanted the chef to cook more for replacement to which we declined. I gave my wife some of my chips in the meanwhile which was why we declined. Apart from the tattles being terrible the chicken was dry and the black pudding and the haggis not brilliant also. A bit of a shame. Waiting on staff to be fair were well mannered and asked us if they could make things better, but at this stage it was a lost cause. Not a great experience, a bit of a shame. A lovely pub to go for a drink though.

We stumbled upon the Pack Horse inn by accident. We are so glad we did. We only went in for a quick drink after walking derwent water. We ended up having 3 or 4 & when we saw the food being served we knew we would eat there too. Mr F had chicken & ribs off the specials board & I had chicken ham & leek pie. Absolutely gorgeous. Chips to die for. Then warm brownie & sticky toffee pudding. So good! Highly recommended
