We have just spent the last seven days in this delightful cottage. From the moment we arrived all six of us fell in love with it and by the end of the stay I was imagining myself living there on a permanent basis, (the rather long commute was a little off putting). As there were six adults in our party we rented the Nook and that was lovely also. The open plan kitchen was a dream and all the appliances and crockery were of a high standard. There was no fighting for the best bedroom as each one was as beautiful as the next. The location was great as there were so many places we found to explore, on foot and by car. We had been advised that the mobile phone coverage was poor but Vodafone coverage in the cottage was strong and no complaints at all from anyone on the wifi which worked 100% of the time.
We cannot recommend this cottage highly enough and I must say dealing with Simon has been an absolute pleasure. His one aim was ensure we thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Charcoal Cottage, thank you Simon.
Don’t believe the odd bad review.
The house was beautifully set out, fantastically clean and had everything you would need for a great break.
A great place to explore the south lakes.
Host was really quick to respond to e mails.
I was surprised by my friends who organised a long weekend at Charcoal House. The surroundings driving to the cottage were amazing and the location was lovely. The cottage itself had my dream kitchen in it.... full of little touches like the coffee machine and the cosy snug at the side. We all had lovely bedrooms, each decorated in a slightly different way with really comfy beds. The balcony overlooking the river was so peaceful and you could see the snowy mountains in the distance. The cottage had a display of leaflets with things to do and we chose to go to Cliffhanger rooms which was an escape game only 10 minutes drive from the cottage and we all had such a great time. Coniston isn’t far to travel from the cottage and we went there on one of the days which was a lovely day out. Would recommend this cottage to anyone who wants a relaxing weekend away, I already want to go back!
We came to charcoal cottage to celebrate my sisters 30th birthday, there were 6 of us in total (3 couples) and we stayed there over Easter weekend.
It was a beautiful and spacious cottage in the most peaceful and beautiful setting. I have never seen a cottage which such equally sized and lovely decorated bedrooms which were perfect for 6 adults... no need to fight over the “best room”!!
We held a surprise birthday celebration in the lounge and and even had a surprise engagement so it really was a weekend to remember.
Whilst we were there we had some lovely scenic walks around coniston and went on a boat trip and one evening visited the cliffhanger rooms which we would all recommend.
Charcoal cottage was the perfect place to make some memories and we would definitely hope to return very soon.
We stayed here for a friends suprise 30th birthday and it was lovely.
Had a fab time and the house is stunning. All the rooms were good size and no one felt as though they got the ‘worser’ room as there wasn’t one!
Lounge area was great and had a basket of games to play.
Kitchen was well equipped and clean.
Nice touches around the house including the leaflets on activities in the area.
Would recommend staying here and hope to visit again soon!
