“Great Location”
Reviewed 1 October 2015 for a stay in September 2015

We stayed from September 16-20th 2015. We absolutely loved the location of the cottage. Beautiful area. The number one complaint is that the beds were awful. My mom has a bad back and hardly slept for the four nights we were there. Also the numbers on the oven are completely worn off so we had to guess how high we were turning the oven up to.

Thank you for your review and we are really sorry to hear about your mothers bad back . The downstairs bedroom has a lovely orthopedic mattress which is medium to firm and very supportive for this condition . The upstairs mattress was only a year old however upon further inspection following an earlier review the base had been damaged causing the mattress to dip slightly this has now been fully replaced with a pocket sprung bed to ensure a good nights sleep.
We welcome customer feedback to help us maintain a good service for our guests and are always available for comments during your stay and happy to assist in any way . Customer satisfaction is paramount

“Stunning Cottage in an Idyllic location”
Reviewed 28 September 2015 for a stay in September 2015

Just returned from a short break at Halfway House, we found the cottage to be very well presented and comfortable, with everything you could possibly need for a holiday in Cumbria.
I have visited this part for the world for more than 40 years. Halfway House has got to be my number 1 choice for future visits.

My husband ,mum and dad and myself spent 4 nights here ,on arrival we were over the moon but soon felt disappointed ,kitchen worktop near cooker greasy, dirty hairband on kitchen chair ,previous holiday makers litter in bathroom bin, went on to relax in the evening and the sofas are so uncomfortable better to go to bed ,double bed upstairs is a joke ,sinks in middle and the linen needs to be binned! This comment may seem harsh but previous comments have been ignored.

Thank you for your review . We do appreciate customer feedback to help us maintain and improve our cottages in any way . We have personal contact with all guests and are surprised that any issues were not brought to our attention during or after your stay . We have looked into matters further after seeing your review spoken with housekeeping etc . The bed was only just over a year old upon further inspection the base had been damaged this has been replaced now with a complete new bed to ensure a good night sleep. We have been letting the cottage for 16years now and customer satisfaction is paramount to us .

“Lovely location and Setting”
Reviewed 6 September 2015 for a stay in August 2015

Just returned from a weeks holiday at Halfway House, the cottage is lovely in a lovely setting not far from Ambleside or Windermere. We did enjoy our stay and stayed here with our 2 boys and my In-laws, the only down sides was the upstairs bed was uncomfortable due to the mattress/base, my husband spent most of the night rolling into the middle we tried turning it round but it made no difference! Under the sofas in the lounge and around the sides of the beds hadn't been cleaned very well there was quite a bit of dust and dog hairs under one sofa when looking for one of my children's toys. The heating was set to come on twice a day but most radiators didn't have the temperature controls so couldn't turn them down as the instrutions advised so it got too warm at night and there was no windows to open in the downstairs bedroom.

Thank you for your review and glad to hear that you had a great stay at Halfway house . We will look into your comments and mention this to the housekeeper. The boiler is accessible and the heating is in total control of the guests .
Many thanks

“Lovely holiday cottage - ideal for exploring the Lakes”
Reviewed 23 August 2015 for a stay in August 2015

We loved our stay at Halfway House. The cottage itself is in an ideal location for exploring the Lakes - it's a short drive from Ambleside and lots of places perfect for walking. As others have said it is on a main road which makes for careful exits, it also meant that for us (with small children and a dog) that we couldn't set off for walks from the cottage itself but that wouldn't be a problem for older ramblers. The facilities in the cottage suited us well and it was clean and warm with a great garden.
