“lovely little cottage”
Reviewed 5 November 2013 for a stay in November 2013

Had a lovely stay at the weekend. Very clean and tidy and in an amazing location! This was our first trip to ambleside and we weren't disappointed! Close to many lovely pubs and restaurants. Thankyou for a wonderful stay!

“Lovely little find!”

This was a cracking little find in the perfect place. It is a lovely, well equipped cottage a stones throw away from town. 10 meters up the road is a cracking little pub and less than a minutes walk down the road and you are in town.

Upon arrival, the cottage was clean and tidy and the directions given by the owner were great. The cottage has lots of character with the low beamed ceilings and whitewashed walls in the living room.

It is a little bit of a squeeze getting all 4 cars in the driveway, but as long as everyone is considerate it isn't a problem. I would advise you reverse in to make it easier getting out.

Only 2 small niggles which in no way would stop me from returning by the way. The tv is tiny (15") a 17" or 21 " would have been nice so we didn't have to sit so close, not that we watched a lot but was nice to watch a film with the family after a hard days holidaying. Also the shower attachment was rather useless. It seemed you either had boiling hot water or freezing cold water coming out of it.

I did a quick walk around video with the camera before we left. Which can be viewed on the youtube link below.

I would definitely recommend this place as it was a very nice place and very reasonably priced. I am positive we will return again someday!

“Location, location, location”

Smithy Brow is in an ideal situation in Ambleside, being close to all shops, cafes, etc, and regular bus services to Grasmere, Keswick and Windemere. Additionally, there is little need to use the car as apart from the buses, several walks can be accessed directly from the cottage. The car parking space is tight, but is off the road and safe. The cottage has everything one could want for a holiday in the Lake District, and is very well equipped and comfortable.

I love this little cottage. It's cute, cosy and clean. It's in an excellent location, you just walk straight into Ambleside. The owners were very helpful and the price excellent.
Can't wait to come back again. The private car parking is so useful too. If you wanted breakfast the glass house, apple pie and dodds are just over the road....and you can get a nice pint 10m away in the golden rule.
The kitchen in the cottage has everything you could possibly need. Was really impressed!
Highly recommended.
Thank you Mr and Mrs Bradley for putting so much thought into this little cottage, our stay was just perfect!
