“Peaceful, snug, cosy and comfortable”
Reviewed 29 November 2014 for a stay in November 2014

We stayed for a 3 night short break.

The cottage was as we expected, with the added bonus of comfy settees, a very well equipped kitchen and absolute peace and quiet at night.

The wifi was one of the reasons we picked this cottage and it was easy to connect and always available. There was an excellent shower and plenty of hot water.

The bed was very comfy with quality linens. The towels were lovely and fluffy. The cottage is very well equipped to self cater.

The location of the cottage is ideal, as it's off a side road and up a hill which means that there is little passing traffic (unlike a lot of holiday cottages we saw) yet only a 5 minute walk to the main street of Ambleside.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and felt very chilled on leaving and would book this cottage for our trips to Ambleside should it be available

“Cosy, quaint and close”
Reviewed 12 September 2014 for a stay in August 2014

We found Blue Hill Cottage a nice spot. It was close to the centre of town, neat and tidy and, although small big enough for two retired couples. It was a quiet spot up a small lane.

“Cosy accommodation”

This delightful cottage was exactly as described - conveniently situated, cosy and well equipped. Accommodation is quite tight for 4 people, but would be comfortable for 2 or 3 visitors using one bed area to store luggage. The cottage has a reserved parking spot nearby, which was always free for us. There is no dishwasher, but a clothes washer with drier. The heating and WiFi worked fine.

Tip: Even when arriving by car from the south, it is wiser to go around and approach the cottage via the north junction of Old Lake Road with the A591. That's because in the evening, residents park their cars on Blue Hill Road south of the cottage, leaving very little room indeed to squeeze past! (North of the cottage, Blue Hill Road is wider)
