We have just returned from a 4 night stay at Kirkbride Hall in Melmerby. On arriving at the cottage you get a great first impression and realise you have made a very good choice! You are welcomed with a lovely a hamper which is a great touch from the owners. The cottage is so well equipped especially the kitchen which has everything you could imagine! The living room is very spacious with lots of comfy seating and the dining table converts into a snooker/pool table - amazing! The outside area is perfect for dogs with plenty of enclosed space to run about. We also visited the Shepherds Inn pub twice during our stay. The staff are very friendly and the service was good. The food was also good and very good value. The location is also perfect for cycling. We took our road bikes along with us and enjoyed a couple of rides around the Eden Valley. The local shop was closed during our stay however there is a Nisa Local in Langwathby which is well stocked.
Overall a great stay in a fabulous cottage in a wonderful part of the country.
Thanks.
Andrew

We had an extended bank holiday weekend with the family at this cottage and love it. The facilities are all new and the location is walking distance to a nice little village with a pub and bakery looking at the dramatic and beautiful Penines. Plenty of space for th family, we loved it!

“Yet another Rowley Estate gem!!!”

This year we tried the new Rowley Estate property Kirkbride Hall. This is in the beautiful village of Melmerby near Penrith and home to the famous Village Bakery.
It was an excellent base for seeing the local area, there are so many things to here but the walk from Pooley to Martindale is one of the best.
Kirkbride Hall is a brilliantly equipped luxury stone cottage. It is warm and inviting but with all the modern requirement. Sparklingly clean and cosy at the same time. Every detail is cared for, comfy beds, fluffy towels, crisp Egyptian cotton sheets, you couldn't do better.

We stayed at Kirkbride hall for a 4 day holiday in the lake district. The property is furnished with great attention to detail and feels like a home away from home. The village is wonderful for long walks and refreshing countryside views. we had a wonderful time and hope that we will be able to return someday.

“Stunning!”

Recently returned from a 6 night stay at the delightful Kirkbride Hall. 8 of us stayed here celebrating my grandfather's 90th birthday in the quiet village of Melmerby. The house is fantastically equipped - especially the kitchen. We never struggled for utensils, plates or glasses which is sometimes a problem. The house was spotlessly clean and finished superbly. The added surprise of the dining table converting into a pool/snooker table was a bonus (especially to my 10 year old nephew). The layout of the house was perfect, fabulously comfortable sofas and chairs to relax in the evening. The welcome hamper was a lovely touch on arrival. When staying here please do make sure that you stroll down to the local bakery for some delicious scones and bread. Get there early though!

We cannot praise the property enough, our only quibble was that we would have liked to appreciate the wonderful garden area a bit more - so if you could sort the weather out next time please!!

We will certainly book with Rowley Estates again on our next trip to the area.
