Bay view house was ideal for our large family get together of 22, from ages 10months - 65 years young.
The house was spotlessly clean. Furniture was a little tired but more than adequate.
Rooms were lovely however some of the wardrobes lacking in clothes hangers. Some of the lighting didn't work but this wasn't really an issue.
The views were stunning and the gardens were lovely, but in need of a little tlc. Maybe pave the terrace instead of having stones. Then you can enjoy your morning coffee bare foot. The hot tub was little dirty and if you want to use it I would advise starting the fire at the crack of dawn lol, also make sure you have plenty of wood.
You can clearly see a lot of work has been done throughout the house. The mattresses were very comfortable in the majority of the rooms. The showers were lovely but it would benefit some instructions on how to work the steam showers.
We had an issue with the heating and hot water, which Jules sorted out immediately. We had a gas engineer out within a couple of hours, and we had no further issues.
The induction hob was great but could do with more induction pans and frying pans. Ideally if money was no object for a house this size it could do with another oven and a couple more hob rings. Also would benefit having oven gloves and a few extra tea towels, hand towels and bath mats.
We would definitely recommend bay view to others families. I could see some larger adult groups struggle with a couple of the bedroom layouts but if you have children it's perfect.
It was a nice walk to the pubs. We had a lovely meal in the Silverdale hotel, but I would recommend booking before hand. The royal, at silverdale was lovely and even donated fire wood to us.
We had a Indian from the local Indian, but
if you do order keep in mind they don't deliver.
We would recommend the arnside chip shop, the staff were very friendly and the food was great. If you go on their website they have a web cam so you can see if it is busy, or you can see your chips being picked up by your designated driver.
Deposit was paid back immediately.
Jules was very accommodating and responded to any questions we had whist we were there. Overall we all loved this house and would definitely return in the future.
The house sits in an amazing location with stunning views over Morecombe Bay, aided by large windows in the lounge, dining room and first floor games room. It's an easy 20 minute walk into Silverdale village where there are pubs, a grocery store and Indian take-away. And just a 10 minute walk down to the Bay itself.
The house has clearly been reburbished in some areas very recently, and the central heating/hot water system in particular was clearly new and worked brilliantly. However, the house could do with a bit more TLC to really live up to its potential.
While some bedrooms are stunning, others are particularly poor, especially the attic bedrooms (off the games room) and the bunk-bed room which is more of a corridor than a bedroom. This might work ok if you've got kids you can chuck in the disappointing bedrooms, but we were a group of adult friends who'd come away for a week to write, so the bedroom discrepancies were an issue.
The furniture throughout looks great from a distance but up close looks more like it's been sourced from second-hand stores; sofas with a huge tear, lounge coffee table with drawers that don't open, dining table with holes in it. Maybe it's a shabby-chic style that just wasn't to our taste?!
In addition, there were lots of little niggles throughout the house. The kitchen is large and spacious with a lovely new induction hob but didn't really have enough suitable pans for a group this large. The second dish-washer didn't take the washing tablet so only rinsed stuff. We couldn't find a screw-bottle-opener for the essential bottles of wine! There are no oven gloves provided, or table mats or coasters. Or if there were, we couldn't find them despite opening every drawer and cupboard in the house!
The dining room is a great size but the chairs, although looking great, are really uncomfortable to sit on for more than half an hour. The piano-room (off the kitchen) is great but the huge window has a broken hinge, meaning when we tried to open it, it literally fell off the hinge and nearly crushed me! Some bathrooms are fantastic but others lack shower curtains and bath mats. The shower-head in the twin en-suite was broken and fixed in an awkward position and because there was no shower curtain the water just poured out onto the bathroom floor. Some bedrooms are spectacular while others lack hangars, bedside tables and bedside lamps.
With a bit more investment and attention to detail, this could be a really stunning holiday cottage.
Three generations of my family ranging from young children to octogenarians stayed at Bay view for a weekend vacation and had a superb time. The high chair and cot were already assembled for us, which was one less thing to think about! The house was extremely well equipped and comfortably furnished which was much appreciated as the weather was not good. Also, the garden was beautiful and had wonderful views over the bay.
We have been taking holidays with our extended family for the last 7 years and we all agreed that this was the best house yet!
