Went for the lunch menu - 2 courses for £8. Wonderful! Good value for money and the food was wonderful. This is a typically Turkish restaurant (my surname is Turkish so kind of know what I’m talking about). Can’t wait to go back now we’ve found this. Food heaven.

The menu in this little restaurant in a historic street in Canterbury city centre was very appealing and good value for this town. It was full of people on a Sunday evening, always a good sign. So we tried. The service was warm if not very organised but the waiters and food seemed more Bulgarian than Turkish. The dishes served were not always as described in the menu, The mezze selection of the £16 menu was small but tasty. My grilled 'seabass' was a disappointment; it was a fried and flour-dusted fish, flattened and cooked so thoroughly that I could not tell what I was eating. My husband mixed lamb was ok but quite stodgy and not very subtle. Turkish wine was good for the price and the baklava was delicious and very nicely presented. Tulip is not a very romantic restaurant or as 'authentic' as claimed but it is good value and lively.

We had noticed that the Tulip was close to our hotel when we arrived in the City and enjoying Turkish cuisine, made sure we visited on our first evening. We were not disappointed, the mixed hot mezzes for two were excellent, and the sutlac traditional rice pudding with pistachio memorable, all accompanied by Turkish tea. Very welcoming and at a very fair price.
