Good value Hotel. Excellent location and suitable parking. The room was quite large clean and met all our needs. Full English breakfast was good although it can get crowded between 8 and 9 am (we has to wait 15 min for a table). Limited bar which appears hardly used and a bit uninviting. It is only a 5 minute walk into the centre of Canterbury.

This was a last minute booking. The hotel room was very clean and the staff were very helpful.
The stay included breakfast which was very good.

If I came to Canterbury again I would definitely book this hotel again.

We selected this hotel because it is just far enough from the town centre to be an ideal walk after dinner. The stall made us very welcome, the room was clean and spacious and breakfast was a delight. And the big plus was the onsite car park! When we next visit this town we will not have to think about where to stay!

We returned from a very pleasant two night stay at Castle House Hotel. On arrival there was free parking available at the hotel. The car park was fairly small so parking was a bit tight, but on both evenings we were able to get a space. Our room was described as a small double but the room was plenty big enough and also had a lounging area with two chairs and a small table which was useful. Both the room and the ensuite shower room were very clean. In an ideal world I would have preferred the shower to be a bit more powerful (it was good but not luxurious!) The style/decor of the room was slightly old-fashioned but in keeping with the age of the property. The staff at the hotel were very pleasant and helpful, and the hotel was ideally placed for exploring Canterbury, with just a short walk into the centre from the hotel. There was a range of breakfast options including a help yourself buffet of cereal, fruit, mini-croissants and pain-au-chocolats; and toast, continental (a selection of cheese and hams) plus the option for a cooked full English breakfast (or the component parts if you didn't want it all) to order. My only comment would be that breakfast started at 8am on the weekend, and on the first morning we came down at exactly 8am but had to wait for about 10 minutes until the waitress first appeared to take our order (we were waiting to order the cooked foods, and therefore didn't help ourselves to the buffet). This was only a minor gripe, and the following morning we went to breakfast slightly later so didn't encounter any problem. Overall a very pleasant stay, ideal for our requirements, good value - we wouldn't hesitate to recommend.

This review is for Americans who might be expecting an American hotel style facility. England has been enduring an unprecedented heatwave. We had already stayed one night in an American brand hotel without A/C. So when we looked for a place in Canterbury, we wanted A/C (and parking). Expedia.com said Castle House had A/C. It does NOT. We kept our windows open but its on a busy intersection so we endured a night of loud traffic just out our windows. It does have (free) parking, but if you arrive late, you could find it very tricky to park in a real tight space. No elevator so be prepared to carry your luggage up very tight stairs. Staff was courteous (and carried my wife's luggage up stairs). Very clean. Continental breakfast was included in our booking. Hot breakfast available for extra money. Centrally located in Canterbury. Price was about $130 US.

Room tip: "Loud" if your windows are open. Probably "Average" otherwise.
