Review of Port House

Port House
Ranked #287 of 731 Restaurants in Portsmouth
Price range: US$7 - US$16
Description: The Port House Café, Bar and Restaurant extends a warm welcome to locals and visitors alike. Set against the water's edge with views out over the marina and a sunny terrace to enjoy the good weather when it arrives, the recently refurbished interior offers a relaxing and attractive space to relax and enjoy oneself with family, friends and work colleagues. The bar was constructed from reclaimed railway sleepers whose soft, honey coloured hues and dowel fastenings evoke the timbers of an old sailing ship. A good range of local real ales, lagers, and ciders are available together with wines and spirits. Unusually, we also stock a range of Hampshire sparkling wines, two of which can be bought by the glass. Better than Champagne at an affordable price! The bar also boasts a state-of-the-art San Remo coffee machine producing the very best Cappuccino's using coffee from local craft coffee roasters, Winchester Coffee Roasters. Our staff will be happy to serve you coffee in any style throughout the day and evening, and in addition there are cakes, savouries, and sandwiches of various types available from the deli counter. The restaurant operates at breakfast, lunchtime and in the evening offering quality fare produced using locally sourced ingredients wherever possible. Breakfast and lunch/evening menus are available for download on this page, and specials are often offered, particularly at weekends. Please see boards for details.

We had the pleasure of having a Mothers day lunch at the Port House today , it was extremely good, the food was hot, well presented and there was plenty of it, children were given a good choice too. There were a large number of families there, the catering was excellent from Kitchen to Waiting team and Bar staff, they were polite, helpful and professional at all times.'
The Port House is great for breakfasts, lunch and evening meals, we have dined there often. We have also used the facilities and catering for a family function and can't praise everyone enough. Thank you Port House and Vanilla Catering.

We attended and private party here, to be fair we didn't know it was actually near the Port Solent Complex but it's a nice find!
Great selection of drinks and a super efficient staff. The bar prices seemed very reasonable.
It has a nice modern decor and I can imagine the views in the day are beautiful

I attend a meeting here and the breakfast is awful. Food is lukewarm, scrambled eggs well no taste very watery. Sausages are hard seemed as though they were cooked the day before. I have never had the courage to try the bacon as it has a layer of white salt on them. Mushrooms float in grease.

I would never go here for a meal as the breakfast is inedible.

Hi Lorraine
You obviously attended the breakfast meeting . Can you tell me what time you arrived as the buffet is served fresh from 07.30 am . It is all freshly cooked ready to serve at that time and piping hot . Our eggs are free range and our sausages from the local farm shop and I can assure you they are not cooked the day before . I will speak to the person who organises the breakfast meeting to see if anyone else had any issues, do you have the day you attended the meeting ?
Our breakfast in the cafe are made to order as are all of our meals so cold food would not be an issue
Kind Regards
Sally

Had a very enjoyable 3 course meal here. Fish and Chips with salad and mussels in a very tasteful sauce. The Beer was cold and the wine was delicious.
