“New forest weekend family break. And it broke me!”
Reviewed 8 November 2015 for a stay in October 2015

Joined my Mum, step dad, sister and brother in law. I had travelled down with my wife and my 1 year old son and my sister and brother in law had travelled with my niece. So, all in all there were 6 adults and 2 young children. The cottage was/is advertised to sleep 6 comfortably. Now, I hasten to add that this is not the case. The middle room which has a double bed squeezed into it has barely enough room to maneuver in. After the first night I had to sleep alone on the bed settee in the lounge downstairs as I am 6ft tall and couldn't actually fit length ways in the bed. The sofa bed btw is very old and most unforgiving on your back after 2 days. I left the cottage hoping to be refreshed but found myself totally drained. My only saviour was the Hot tub which I cannot praise enough. The shower downstairs was broken and just dribbled on you more than anything else. This cottage was clearly needing some TLC. I found the guide somewhat patronising if I'm honest, 70 pages long and over illustrated. The Parking..... Again, I have read that there is parking for 5 cars? We had 3 vehicles, 2 parked directly in front of the house over the cattle grid which meant I parked before the cattle grid. The guide clearly stipulates not to park on the grass but there were two abandoned rotting vehicles there when we arrived. If you are after privacy you get it to a degree until someone staying in the static home situated to the rear of the house walks bye. Quite disconcerting when not expecting it. The forest was beautiful as always.

This is 2nd 3* review from the same party for a SINGLE stay and looks odd against the other 5* reviews. Wonder why anyone would leave more than 1 review for the same visit? We will leave you to judge from the other 5* reviews. Not difficult to spot when something written cannot be right, for example double beds are a standard UK size designed so if you are 6ft or over you will always fit in them, but apparently for this 6ft tall guest it was too short.

“A Modern and Comfortable Stay”
Reviewed 6 November 2015 for a stay in November 2015

Stayed here for 3 nights in November and even though the weather wasn't great, it didn't stop us from having a lovely stay at Forest Corner. The cottage is modern and clean, great facilities and loved the positioning, was lovely to wake up and see some of the New Forest ponies grazing on the green next to the cottage.
The owners provide a really useful booklet of where everything is in the cottage and how to use it. The hot tub was an added bonus and lovely to relax in after a walk in the forest. Just be careful if there are different people staying in the additional accommodation as they have to walk right past where the hot tub is to access their place. Luckily we weren't disturbed at all but just something to point out.
Owners were extremely prompt in returning the damages deposit, money was transferred over the day we returned, very efficient!
Thanks for a lovely stay and if we return to the New Forest for a holiday would definitely considering renting Forest Corner again.

“Reasonable property”
Reviewed 26 October 2015 for a stay in September 2015

The booking procedure was smooth - good communication with the owner. The cottage was easy to find with parking for 2 of the cars in front of the house and the other car outside on the grass.

The downstairs of the cottage is perfect. The set up, the space and the amenities - you could not ask for more - a real home from home. However, the upstairs was an issue. 6 adults and 2 children. There were 3 double beds and 1 cot - no bed for the other child to sleep. 1 large en suite room, 1 smaller room and 1 tiny room with hardly enough head space. You are getting a bum deal if you end up in the small room.

The back garden is a little scruffy. The main reason we booked the cottage was for the hot tub. Members of the group felt that the hot tub smelt unpleasant, so much so that we phoned the owner. I am pleased to say he answered our call straight away and said that he regularly cleaned and checked the hot tub.

If booking you need to be aware that the renters of the other holiday accomodation access their place down the side of the cottage and through the garden - therefore privacy may be an issue.

The internet service is painfully slow (as is the service on mobile phone) so I recommend printing off all the gumph the owner sends before you leave. Little point in trying to access or download it from your phone whilst you are there.

Only real grumble is the fact that I had to contact the owner some 6 weeks later for the return of my deposit.

I would say perfect cottage for 4 adults + children.

The cottage sleeps 6 comfortably but if you do choose to sleep 8 then it will be tight upstairs as there are only 2 king and 1 double rooms, a family bathroom, separate shower and toilet plus a balcony siting area for 6.

The 6/7 person hot tub spa is treated and filtered continually (its inbuilt into the top of the range spa) and additionally tested 2-3 times per week with water changing regularly as needed.

The Wifi is broadband and about 1 meg so quite fast, but there was a faulty ASDL filter when these guests stayed which we did tell them about when they reported the issue and it was subsequently checked/replaced.

The Cottage has its own access and separate parking. In times of heavy rainfall when the local stream is flooded and un crossable then we allow our neighbours to use the cottage side gravel path but this is only occasional.

arrived in wonderful warm weather which went on all week . my 70th birthday was the occasion , my family were staying 2 nights each with one year olds . although the property was excellently fitted out, the internet (my husband relys on daily) was so slow and intermitant we had to go find one in the library at Ringwood , . bedroom space realy dreadfull 3 bedrooms fitted into a space with a headroom that could struggle with 2 bedrooms . , the travel cots made it impossible to "get out of bed , so one person had to sleep on downstairs sofa . result? no sleep , the position of the SEMI DETACHED cottage, is excellent , but the lack of privacy was an issue , we enjoyed the "hot tub" but with different people, who hired the caravan at the back called "the lodge" they had to walk past in very close proximity .
we clearly booked at the end ,,or during a very busy season of letting . , we arrived at 4.30 , to a bottle of fizz for me a card ,on the kitchen table a lovely.surprise thank you . but a floor swimming with water . we had to stay out of the kithchen for an hour ,it was so wet . cleaning sqad clearly only just gone and clearly , a lot of maintenance now needed "carpet stains broken cuboard etc . , but nothing spoiled a realy cracking week , I did leave a list of repairs for cleaning staff , as doing a "turnaround on a heavily booked property? must be impossible , great week ,parking issues with all.people staying in caravan "we were told to park in front of your window" caravan guests told us when we returned after wonderful days out to find our very limited space was occupied by yet another strange car . the only space blocked , we showed the tenants of the caravan our chart on "where to park" but although they agreed ,, did not move the car , making sat "our leaving day very difficult as all has to be carried over cattle grid, if your own space is now gone . , very poor bedrooms one with a superb balcony , but crouching in order to cross the bedroom takes the pleasure out of using it , a huge, lack of privacy .a truly amazing downstairs, fire sound system, tv, . no garden semi , not detached plus caravan at rear .would I recommend to a friend? after explaining ,,what is actualy on offer yes . but a need to know on privacy parking and bedroom space vital .

Contrast this with all the other 5* reviews and make your own judgement. This guest was "challenging" from enquiry stage booking and paying for only 2 people then turning up with 7 or 8 staying! We only take a maximum of 6 so she would find it a bit tight. There is parking for 5 cars. But this lady took all the spaces even the separate property's allocated parking and leaving the property in a terrible state. The upstairs has 2 King and 1 Double room, family bathroom, separate shower toilet and sink and a balcony terrace that can take 6 people for dinner if needed. I guess if you try to sleep 8 and a child (free) it will seem tight upstairs but nearly all our guests find it fine. Our cleaning standards get 5*s see the other reviews so it took an extra 2 hrs and extra cleaner to deal with the mess. The gardens side and back overlook the National park. There is no "caravan" and you look out over open parkland see the other reviews.

We did provide a free bottle of Champagne and a 70th Birthday card on arrival but I guess this lady wanted 8 bottles even though she only pay for 2 people and crammed in 8 plus a child!

When we arrived at Forest Corner it was such a pleasant surprise to have so much available to us within the cottage, from kitchen essentials to entertainment. We really felt at home within a few hours. Lovely place to stay with great facilities. Hot tub was fab. Thank you!
