Description: A 400 year old hunting lodge set on Minchinhampton Common in the Cotswolds, The Old Lodge restaurant provides a fairytale setting in which to dine. Built in traditional mellow Cotswold stone, The Old Lodge, at one time a hunting lodge owned by Henry VIII, is surrounded by beautiful manicured lawns ideal for summer time al fresco dining while the interior avoids clich, with traditionalism eschewed in favour of understated contemporary style. So while original old beams and pillars might remain the overwhelming impression is of a thoroughly modern restaurant with a sparkling, lively atmosphere. Views of the common meanwhile are enjoyed through vast floor to ceiling windows. The Old Lodge kitchen combines impeccable sourcing with stunning presentation to create a cuisine as beautiful as the restaurant itself. With most ingredients purchased locally, dishes are naturally imbued with a British flavour despite a thoroughly cosmopolitan influence from Europes most noted culinary nations.

Really like this place and go regularly..last night was a disappointment..very slow service and food over cooked. Alex who runs the restaurant was, as always, quick to see this and apologised. Out of character for this place, still a favourite and we will return.

First time I've been there. We ate outside on a beautiful evening. It was our wedding anniversary and I had a cake made which I brought to the Lodge earlier in the day. The meal we ordered was delicious and afterwards they served up the cake with some strawberries. When I got the bill there was no charge for serving up the cake and the first round of drinks was free "because it's your anniversary."

We both had the Parmesan chicken which was dry and over cooked. The vegetables and potato cubes were underneath the chicken in a watery soup. Having been told by the staff that the potatoes were sautéed this came as a surprise. We used to eat here regularly, but have recently noticed that the quality of food has really dropped.

Situated in the heart of Minchinhampton Common with outstanding views of the surrounding valleys, this is a wonderful spot for an afternoon stop in the sunshine or for a great evening meal. Walk the common with the free ranging horses and cows and admire the views and then relax with a good meal or a refreshing drink. great staff, great ambiance, great views.

Booked a table by the window in the main restaurant. Were given a table in the far corner which was perfect as views to two sides. Service excellent and food was delicious and plenty of it. We have been visiting the Old Lodge for over 30 years and although it has had it's ups and downs we remain loyal as it's such a unique setting. This visit was definitely one that we all thoroughly enjoyed with absolutely no complaints. Staff friendly and very accommodating, bringing more veg and a yorkshire pudding for my daughter even though she ordered steak, without us having to ask. Very happy and definitely returning soon.
