Thai Emerald Cirencester
Stopped here for lunch on Saturday 16 May on impulse., I had not read any of the reviews on TA beforehand.
The restaurant was very decorated with wooden carvings everywhere, on the tables, walls and carved candles! Lots of Thai buddhas too.
The staff, at first, did seem a bit distant and the waiter almost discouraged us as we turned up at 12:30 and there was one other table of people and he put us on a table right next to them.
He seemed a bit confused when we gave our order too. I think this might be down to lack of English as he didn’t seem to understand but things improved from there. The lady behind the bar was very friendly and seemed more interested in what we ordered. She watched carefully as we sampled our various dishes.
The homemade Thai fishcakes were good as was my husband’s soup. The seafood dishes we ordered for the main course were nice and spicy and the Thai Green Curry was exceptional. Lots of pea aubergines and krachai (Thai Ginger) and shrimp paste giving a very authentic taste. The bill, with wine, came to £70 which I thought was reasonable for starters, 3 main courses and a bottle of good wine.
We would go back there.
