“Gorgeous, tranquil, extremely well equipped cottage”
Reviewed 16 December 2013 for a stay in November 2013

Had a wonderful few days at Seakale - it was perfect for us and the dog; nature reserve walk on the doorstep and miles of sandy beach for playing on (just make sure you get the tide times right!)

Cottage is extremely well equipped with extra touches adding to the sense of a special getaway. You can walk into Rye town in about half an hour or there is a bus which isn't terribly frequent but a bus nonetheless!

The log burner is gorgeous and when i wrapped up with the soft blanket in front of the fire i didn't really want to ever move again!

Have already recommended the cottage to a few people and will hope to return ourselves in Spring time.

“Beautiful cottage near the coast, a real gem in Rye, Sussex”
Reviewed 6 November 2013 for a stay in October 2013

We have 4 blissful days at Seakale which was extremely efficiently run by the owner ,Jane. Lovely furnishings & very well kitted out so that you could pack more easily and not have to take all those extras you need for self-catering & beach holidays. Really appreciated. Everything worked, it was very warm and cosy, especially with the log burner!

Our 2 boys had a bedroom each and they loved the nearby park, minutes walk away through a little path between the cottages on the other side of Tram Road.

Great area - saw Battle Abbey, Hastings, Camber Sands, Rye, Dungeness & Dover Castle & had time to enjoy and relax at Seakale too. Just wish we had time to visit Lewes and it's antique shops - might have to return!

Would highly recommend this cottage and area.

“A cosy little cottage”
Reviewed 5 November 2013 for a stay in October 2013

Very nice & cosy interiors
Nice decoration
Very well equiped for both adults and kids (kitchen, games, books, dvd, bathroom ...)
Lightfull

Localisation a bit disappointing because I thought we would really be on the sea cost. This was not the case

Thank you very much for taking the time to write such a lovely review about the cottage. I was very sorry to read that you were a bit disappointed about the location of the cottage, in that it was not as close to the sea as you thought it might have been. The cottage is advertised as being 1.2km from the beach, which can also be seen by looking at the Google location map, which is an invaluable tool to allow potential guests to see the exact location of a property. It appears that this information might have been overlooked when booking the property. However, the cottage is literally a minute's walk from the Rye Harbour Nature Reserve, which in turn leads directly to the sea, views of which can be enjoyed from the rear of the cottage. I hope you all had a safe journey back to France. Best wishes, Jane

“A super weekend break”
Reviewed 21 October 2013 for a stay in August 2013

Just had a weekend walking break with my girlfriends at Seakale. The property is spotlessly clean and beautifully decorated. It has a real cosy feel to it.The owners left us milk, good quality juice and a beautiful cake !! There was a good selection of tea bags, condiments etc to get you started. The kitchen is very well equipped and even has a Nespresso coffee machine!
The beds were extremely comfortable and the bedding very clean. The bathroom is very clean and fluffy white towels were provided.
The property is not in a particularly picturesque location, but the lovely town of Rye and Camber Sands beach are close by.
The owner , Jane has been brilliant at communicating throughout the whole process. She obviously really cares for the property and included lots of information about the property, Rye and the surrounding area.

The only slight downside if you were staying for a week or more is that although there are pegs for hanging clothes on and drawers in each room , it would have been nice to have a wardrobe ,although I understand space is limited.A separate toilet would have also been useful. This is not a criticism, just an observation!

Thank you for your kind comments about Seakale. I am really pleased that you all had such a lovely time. All feedback is very important to me as I am always keen to improve the facilities, where possible. Your observations were very helpful and although the master bedroom has a double wardrobe, a chest of drawers and a peg rail, the additional bedrooms each have a chest of drawers and a peg rail. However, I am now planning to provide additional hanging space in each of these rooms, in the form of a wooden rack, which would retain the 'beach house' feel without the need for heavy furniture. Hopefully this will provide ample storage for those on a longer break.

Many thanks and best wishes, Jane

We had a lovely stay at seakale. Jane is wonderful, and quickly responds to any questions. The cottage is full of charm, and very cozy. We were even greeted with a welcome basket. All in all couldn't have asked for a better place to spend the weekend.
