I recently stayed in the house from the 1st of August to 8th August 2015. Our group was an extended family with ages ranging from 60s to 3 year olds 8 people in total.
The house itself is great. Set over 3 floors you feel you have space and don't feel crowded in. If I could make one suggestion it would be maybe have a TV in the kitchen as well as the living room to give people a choice of what to watch.
That said any fighting over the remote control was soon resolved. In addition as you have very reliable wifi included you can easily stream something on a laptop if you wanted in another room.
The house has 3 bathrooms and on arrival we were told one of the showers was broken and it would be fixed. The owners were very apologetic over it they had only been informed on changeover day the other shower was broken. True to their word the shower was fixed in less than 24 hours with a plumber coming out on a Sunday to install a brand new shower. You cannot fault service like that.
The location of the house is ideal once you get used to the rather hilly nature of Brighton. We arrived during Pride weekend and the house was close enough to get involved if you wanted but far enough away if you didn't.
If you have young children Queens Park is a stones throw away from the house and has a brilliant play area for kids.
The house is walking distance to the Pier and city centre even the Marina. If you don't fancy the walk to the marina you can get the electric train that runs along the sea front from the half way point.
The good news when walking to the Pier etc is all downhill and can be done very quickly. The bad news at some point you have to go back up the hill to the house. The hill is not excessive in anyway but worth noting if you have small children with you who are tired after spending time on the beach and Pier.
I'd like to add there is also a great little quiet Irish pub called J. W. Lennons about 5 mins walk away from the house. A great halfway point for a few drinks on route to the main area of bars further in town.
We found the beach in Brighton itself very dirty. As the tide does not go too far up some of the pebbles are not cleaned at all.
We found the beaches at Rottingdean much better and cleaner. If you head past the Marina on the coast road it is literally 5 mins from Brighton in a car and a whole different world. A complete contrast to the busy Brighton beaches.
Nice sized rooms with all mod cons you need
Really good internet connection
Ideal location to explore Brighton
Would recommend this house to anyone wanting a nice family holiday.
This house was spacious, comfortable and well equipped, and with plentiful hot water - even with five children!
It is very conveniently located, either within a few minutes walk (the Pier, the Royal Pavilion, the Lanes) or a short drive (e.g. The Marina) of the best Brighton has to offer.
I cannot speak too highly of the owners' friendliness, courtesy and efficiency. All queries were quickly and pleasantly responded to, our booking and security deposit were acknowledged immediately and our deposit was returned within 48 hours of our return home. And, always a plus, wine and chocolates awaited us on arrival!
We were also welcomed by the delightful agent with courtesy and cheerfulness.
I would have no hesitation in recommending a stay here to friends or family.

Southdown House is pleasant 3 storey town house within 10 mins walk of city centre. Was fine for family of 4. Clean and convenient - especially having its own parking space.
We stayed in Southdown house over New Years as a family break. There were 12 of us in total, but still fitted into the house comfortably. The facilities at the house were brilliant, and the owners were extremely friendly and helpful. I would have no hesitation in recommending Southdown house, it is a lovely place to stay in Brighton :-)

We were a stag do staying at south down place, and the venue exceeded out expectations. Great communal area and kitchen facilities, especially the pots and pans for a big cook up!
The location was great, a short walk to town, 10-15mins max even with drunk people.
P.s. Even the complimentary chocolates were a nice touch!
