I am involved in a business networking group, and we recently used Stanmer for the venue for one of our monthly meetings. The weather was glorious and the house made for the perfect pre-meeting reception area. Once everyone was in and suitably networked, we moved onto the function marque in the gardens, where we were treated to a lovely breakfast. The meeting went well. We'll be back again next year (we move venue each month). I have subsequently recommended other business networking to Stanmer, and will be visiting again on 20th July - ery much looking forward to it.

My understanding is that Alexander Proud has taken on the House from the District Council & are starting an investment programme.
We saw him riding his horse on the estate when we came for tea; had I realised it was him at the time I would have loved to find out more of the plans for this lovely house.
Our afternoon tea for my Mums birthday - a Groupon offer - was lovely & the staff were excellent too - very friendly & helpful. We literally couldn't eat anything else, & the tea was freely flowing too.
Instead of our reserved table in the restaurant section we chose to sit in the very funky chairs in the reception room - love them!
The house has a lovely casual relaxed feel to it which is very nice.
Just to clarify - on there day we were there, there was a business function & we could only access the few front rooms.
The gardens are really part of the marquee section - not a separate garden as I expected.
There is limited parking to the left of the house, but other parking close by just through the village. Surrounding building/barns/outhouses have been converted & sold as residential, & the garden centre is long closed, so it's basically just the house & the estate grounds (despite the signs still being there).
We had a wander around the church & village - also all looking a bit tatty around the edges but nice.
Basically, slightly tatty but interesting & charming suits the house well, & the afternoon tea & service were very good.
I'd be very interested in coming back in a year or so's time to see what has changed.

A really pleasant evening and a good price.
You are welcomed with a glass of nice white fizz and listen to the jazz which was excellent. The singer was particularly good. No-one called us into dinner which was a little odd but as soon as we asked we were shown to our table, The waiters and waitress in the dining room could not have been more helpful. We all enjoyed the meal the steaks were good the desserts excellent and the starter was pleasant. It was all so nice that we forgot to go out for the second half of the jazz.
