Maumbury Rings hosts many events, especially in the Summer months, & there is always a great atmosphere there. The information boards provide interesting details about the history of the rings. It’s a good place for children to run or to walk dogs, & it is only over the road from a car park in the town.

The Maumbury Rings wouldn’t be at all interesting if it were not for the information notices around. The provided fascinating facts and theories as to the various uses of the area over the centuries.

It was a good area to exercise the dog off lead too.

The Rings are very near to the main Car Park in Dorchester and an easy walk. They are very well preserved and there are good explanation boards throughout. There are no restrictions to wandering and when you realise that this was a Roman entertainment place it is very easy to visualise. A great place for the kids to play at putting on a show or just to run around. Also good place for a picnic.

A nice walk, revealed the Maumbury rings. An ancient earth works with a potted history. If you like to look at this sort of thing, then it well worth a visit, see also the Roman House, and the town walls walk.

If you're visiting Dorchester as a tourist, most likely you'll park at Fairfield. The Maumbury Rings is just over the road. It's fascinating to see the juxtaposition between this ancient Neolothic monument (roughly contemporary with Stonehenge) and the modern workaday world. The property is sensitively maintained.
