1) Access to the Hotel is poor. You need to negotiate a tricky roundabout and then come directly off the roundabout into a hidden car park. Beware!!! There is only one poorly sited sign.
2) A late private booking of live entertainment on a Sunday night was horrendous. A phone call was given warning me that the Hotel had taken a late private booking and likely to go on to 02.00am. This seemed to negate the staff from monitoring the sound levels. At Midnight I phoned the reception to get a foreign member of staff to turn the noise levels down. He said he would speak to the Manager. The deep thud, thud, thud, of the base sounds of the disco type music, made worse by the low background noise levels on a Sunday night, prevented me getting off to sleep. It was 02.30am before I finally got off to sleep and was absolutely shattered the next day. Another resident was moved to a different room upon arrival Sunday because the Hotel staff knew it was going to be noisy. Worse than the Saturday night live entertainment which went on to 03:00am. I am really pleased that the Hotel got good business at the expense of my sleep!!! Not!
3) The entrance Foyer is dull and uninviting with the local attractions leaflet cabinet tucked away around a corner, almost as if in hiding!
4) On a plus side the Breakfasts and the breakfast staff were terrific as was the bedroom cleaning staff.
5) No DVD player or live streaming- come on Hotel Royal Exeter get up to date.
6) Shower was poor. Dodgy WHB plunger.

Room tip: Don't book at weekends due to noisy live entertainment

Never stayed here before but the welcoming arrival and friendliness of staff was brilliant. The receptionists were very helpful I knew our room number off by heart every time we went to get our key making us feel special. The room was big and very clean. Looking forward to rebooking for next year.

Upon arrival was greeted by two polite young girls on reception. Swift and easy check in. Also got a welcome from a member of staff on the stairs.
The building is old so the decor is dark with wood panelling and dark walls. With any building of this age it does suffer from squeaky floorboards. But it is perfectly presented and well kept.
Had an annexe room on the third floor. It was quite dark due to the low ceiling but did provide everything for a short stay. Was pleasantly surprised to have a sea view as well. It was quite hot but a fan was provided in the wardrobe. The bedside light didn’t work so was unable to read. Hopefully it’s just the bulb that needs replacing.
The bed was comfortable and I slept really well. I especially liked the delicious biscuits that were left.

My only criticism was the tiny TV, I measured it at 13"!!. My laptop has a bigger screen. Please can management consider replacing this with a more suitable size TV as it was a struggle to see it and there was plenty of room to add a larger one to a wall bracket. Also the hot water tap was at the point of scolding, so was unable to use without burning yourself.
The hotel is in a great location a short walk to the beach and town, had free parking. The Wi-Fi was reliable and fast and the staff were very professional and polite. Would certainly stay here again.

Really pleased with the stay at this traditional hotel. Clean, well presented. The breakfast was good with plenty of choice. Staff were very obliging. Would certainly use again. Across the road from the BIC. Close to bus stops, beach a few minutes away.

On arrival we were surprised by the inclusion of parking. Quite rare in central Bournemouth and a real bonus. The staff were very helpful and friendly, explaining how to get to our room and offering special offers on drinks.
The room itself was comfortable, a bit too warm with nothing to do to help this. It was a really spacious room (family room) but pretty dated in the decor, lighting etc.
The wifi was excellent and the location is ideal for exploring Bournemouth.
On return to the hotel you could not sleep with the window open due to the noise (this was at 1am), having had a few drinks myself this wasn't a huge problem but as a family or without a drink or 2 could be disruptive.
The breakfast offered good variety and was good quality.
All in all, I couldn't fault the service or add ons like parking and breakfast but for noise and decor it needs improving.

Room tip: Try a top floor room, it might help with the noise
