We booked this last minute with national holidays then went on trip advisor and read the reviews and thought wot have we done .But I was pleasantly surprised .The hotel reception area bar area were clean .our twin room was clean we got clean towels everyday (only they 3 days ) .The bathroom had a bit of mould above the window and the bath panel was coming away but the water was hot .We got a colour code ticket to go in for meals on the first nite it was confusing but on the 2nd it as ok you had choices soup bit of salad 3 hot dishes to pick from sweets only fault here and breakfast was the same if they ran out it took about 5mins or replace .want cld be better would be someone standing near by not just coming out of the kitchen to look then going back in .breakfast was fruit juice choice of cereals bacon eggs hash brown fried bread black pudding sausages Tom's beans toast tea coffee . Entertainment was bingo which I hate but we joined in and won twice (lol) a man singing then next nite a woman sang then next nite a race nite but if you didn't want to join in with the bingo they didn't pester you too .went on a half day trip to Dartmouth and the Sunday was free we went into torquay .the hotel is about 5mins walk to baccombe cliffs promade (hotel is in baccombe) lovely view over the prom go down to the beach on the cliff tram way 5pd return as it's a very steep cliff to either walk down or back up 2little cafes on the beach and you can walk further along at the bottom of the cliffs .A couple of pubs on the prom itself we went into the buccaneer and orders a Sarnia for a quick bite it came with chips and salad lovely.plenty of cafes and pubs down by the harbour when we were they it was powerboats racing on watched them it was a beautiful sunny day in October can imagine in the summer it wld be even better .Also we had vouchers for 4drinks each included in with our hol so for 2ppl you got 8dri is which we thought was worth it as you got later cider house spirit eg vodka gin also martinti .if you get vouchers use them after 7oclock as the hotel has a happy hour on between 5 and 7 but can't rember drink prices for it as hubby paid not me .Yes the hotel is a bit dated and needs a luck of paint in places and a tidy up but for want we paid 119.pounds for Friday to Monday away it as worth it .Hope this review helps ppl as no matter where I go I read the reviews what others have wrote on here

The room was ok the shower room/toilet was only 2'6" wide there was green mould between the walls and the ceiling, no heating in the bedroom when asked why the answer was you can have an extra blanket. The buffet breakfast and evening meal was very poor I asked an employee to change some of the plates as they were not clean. I would say this is one of the worst hotels that I have stayed in.

Not the type of place to go, great for stag party’s not much good for anything else, dirty rooms, rubbish outside window. In short rubbish.
A picture tells a lot, but in there defence , price reflects standard.

Sadly we read the reviews after we'd booked, with no cancellation option.
They are pretty spot on!
The hotel doesn't appear too bad from outside, if you don't look closely. But once inside, particularly the rooms, it's a different story.
The lounge / bar area in the evening was something out of Phoenix Nights. Those people that weren't drunk already, were watching soaps on the lounge TV.
I'd be horrified to turn up here on a coach trip, it really is scraping the bottom of the barrel given how many nicer places are around.
The hotel is in need of SERIOUS renovation. Maybe they should consider closing sections off to get this done? In the meantime you may get lucky with a more recently decorated but still basic room. Or, like us, you may not.
The staff did what they could and were friendly, but the hotel itself would only ever look good through beer goggles (with the lights turned off).
